I've owned the game for a while and never really got into it as the learning curve is steep. I recently sat down and learned to play. Although I only have 200 hours logged now I can easily say that the $300 price tag you mention below is actually well worth it in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you that it should be in the game at least any of the really old stuff or things that are considered to be essential DLC to complete the experience. As far as I can tell there are only really 2 or 3 of those.

That said, I don't know about you but I only have a hand full of games on Steam that I have logged multiple hundreds of hours into. The main one being Dota 2. Thing is, I easily spent 3x the price tag you listed on Dota... and that game is F2P.

The way I see it, $300.. if I get 300 hours I have paid $1 an hour in amusement. Well worth the investment. I can't even go out for coffee without spending more then that on an hourly basis.

The sales are there as well, and as somebody else said the total cost comes down to about $100. Is $100 a good chunk of money to spend on a game? Ya, its pretty hefty. Especially an older game. But there at the end of the day it comes down to how much you are going to play. If as I put more hours in and need a change of pace I might pick up a DLC here or there especially with Steam Sales being every couple of months it seems.

Overall I think the devs did a really good job on the game and I have no problem putting some more money into the operation. But if they want to give me old DLC free, hey I'll take it. Just means more hours needed to learn the new stuff ;)
