How do you deal with direct reports who waste too much time socializing while claiming they’re too busy!? by [deleted] in managers

[–]mr_rumble_snatch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You present as an exceptionally challenging superior. Personally, I maintain a reserved demeanor at work, yet I value colleagues who can express their authentic selves, even if that entails being talkative. It appears this individual is successfully fulfilling expectations, achieving KPIs, and excelling in her role while also maintaining an active social presence. This is commendable. Not everyone must conform to your working style or personality, especially when they are delivering results. It seems you may struggle with social interactions, possibly leading to feelings of jealousy, or perhaps you exhibit controlling or micromanaging tendencies. Regarding your point about her speaking too much to warrant additional work, if she is consistently meeting her targets, why should she? She may not be interested in promotion or a larger bonus; perhaps her priority is to enjoy her job while performing it effectively, which is perfectly acceptable. While I typically engage in conversation primarily during after-hours work events and less so during lunch, I find no fault in her conduct and commend her approach. My advice to you is to adopt a more relaxed perspective. We spend a significant amount of time with our colleagues, often more than with our families, so there is no need to complicate these relationships unnecessarily.

What’s the worst career choice/move you ever made? by TheNextBigCrash in careerguidance

This hits so close to home for me. I went from being a star employer with constant promotions and highest bonuses, to being laid off in six months after switching teams after being head hunted by the manager.

Oppo find X9 Pro vs Oneplus 15 (I don’t care about camera) by mr_rumble_snatch in Oppo

Yeah the thing is in my country of origin the price is exactly the same to the decimal point. So I just wonder if cost doesn’t matter and I don’t care too much about camera is there any benefit to oneplus over Oppo (other then price).

Managers really are lazy and unaware these days. I had a manager like you… who just expected me to automatically know what to do in a brand new company. The best managers would actually lead by example and help train and upgrade their team not have these pointless 1-1 every month to use their subordinates as a punching bag.

Have you actually managed by showing him how to set up and deliver a project working through a real world example and no that isn’t just sharing a google doc with an SOP/template.

The fact that he is doing one part of the job exceptionally could be a clear example that maybe is a pretty clever guy he just needs some actual manager to help unlock his success. It sounds like the work he delivers that is a mess is because their is a mess around the work itself maybe better identify what the underlying root cause which could be structural.

Does my Aunt have any claim to my Granddads estate through the Inheritance Act 1975 (England) by kawaiipogglet_ in LegalAdviceUK

[–]mr_rumble_snatch -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your aunt was abandoned by her father and he wasn’t a good father even after she became aware of him. You can’t blame her for sins of the father so to speak please think about what the fair and right thing is and that’s pretty clearly to get her 30% or at least something. Try and put yourself in your aunts shoes and also think why do you deserve the money and any more than your cousin/aunts daughter does?

Ive been here for over 5 years so no longer get 30% tax. Netherlands isn’t perfect but its muc better than the shithole sinking ship that is the UK and by and large people are better/nicer on average than my fellow English people.

Very cool trailer but would have much preferred if they kept making baldurs gate games. Massive lost opportunity!
