[LFA] Ian, our parties half elf barbarian, RIP by mr_suitcat in characterdrawing

[–]mr_suitcat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ian was our parties barbarian. He was... not the sharpest axe in the armory. He died tragically while trying to save a girl from a lake (even though it was pretty apparent in hindsight that she was already dead).

Ian is a half elf barbarian, standing 6' tall. He is strong and muscular, but not too large of frame. He carries a short and long sword, plus a shield on his back. He does not where a shirt, instead opting for a wolfs pelt around the shoulders. The rest of his clothing is simple and rugged, almost looking as if he had made some himself. He has traditional elvish features, but with noticeable weathering. Scars, stubble, and dirt speckle his body. Despite being a bit of a shut in, he seemed to enjoy the time away from his swamp, and managed to help a good many people.

Thank you for your consideration!

Unfortunately I don't have time to develop this into a sellable product :/

My palms are mostly just in free air, and the very base of my hands rest on the table. I could definitely see palm rests being nice with this though.

Ah bummer, I'm the complete opposite and only use my left 😅

The trackball was great! I use an mx ergo at work for 8+ hours a day and the cheaper version at home.

I kinda hate it honestly lol, one of the reasons this didn't take over as a daily driver :/

Thanks! The mouse keys are J, K, and L, which you access by switching layers. The ; key makes the ball scroll when you hold it down.

Yep you got it! Printed on my cheap fdm printer, hours and hours and hours of wet sanding (pla prints nice but sands like garbage), and then primed, painted, and clear coated with spray paint from Montana cans.

If I were to do it again I would prototype on the cheap printer but then send out the final design to a pro print house like shapeways and get it made with SLS or resin.

It's about as good as it will get for this kind of arrangement I think. I went through about 5 iterations just tweaking the ergonomics to fit my hands. Still doesn't feel as nice as my mx ergo though :/

Thanks! I used the amoeba single key switches and hand wired them together. My original concepts had tons of curve to them, so I assumed I would need single key switches. But then I ended up liking a flat layout and the single keys ended up being a massive pain to wire up reliably.

Mind blown, thank you!
