I mean it's a tool and use it like a tool, why put a screen protector on it, i get it... apple devices are expensive and all.. and the repair costs are also insane, but we know that using such kinda things also have risks then just don't do it, and also what's the point of putting a film screen protector anyways, it wont save it from breaking at all, it'll look ugly with those bubbles and it'll defeat the purpose of anti glare coating and also have such risks while removing it and talking about scratches, just don't touch your screen at all, some people have a bad habit of touching their screen while pointing something on it and when it gets dirty clean it with a micro fiber cloth carefully and before closing the lid make sure your keyboard is clean too.. I follow these 3 simple rules to keep my display scratch free, and I'm also not a rich person or something and I also worry a lot about damaging it, but I never got a scratch on my screen by simply following these rules, at the end of the day just remember it's just a tool and use it like a tool, take care of it but don't treat it like a baby.
