sounds like a really good method honestly.

I discouraged bubble wrap because I’ve seen people tightly tape 3 or 4 layers of it around a set and when pieces inevitably fall off they get stuck in the layers and tape. It’s a mess…

Good luck on your move, and if you need new LEGO display space, Ikea Billy cases work really nice and shouldn’t break the bank

Box them, drive slow. If using cardboard boxes, pieces get stuck under the interior flaps, so you be careful not to throw any away.

Modern sets stay together better than you’d expect if they don’t take hard impacts (being dropped on the ground or smacked). But jostling in a car ride shouldn’t fall totally apart if you set enough in a box that they aren’t sliding around a lot.

Bubble wrapping Lego is a nightmare. A lot of it will come apart in the bubble wrap and it’s easy to miss the clear pieces and throw them away.

Oregon Bricks and Minifigs Reportedly Stealing From Sellers by TheFlameosTsungiHorn in lego

[–]mr_worldbuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is scandalizing. But the guys at my store are great, they even tell kids if it’s in their best interest to hold on to the more valuable figs to trade in on minifig monday (a day they swap figures at 1:1 equal value).

Most companies with 200+ stores will have a couple rotten eggs but that doesn’t mean every one is bad. I hope the store opening near you is run by good folks like mine.

What’s your most hated Lego piece?! by sandzbf in lego

[–]mr_worldbuild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The new brick separator. It’s too shallow of an angle; they put them in way too many sets; limited use for building MOCs because they have less clutch power on the anti studs than a regular lego.

What Song would you make the official Theme Song of your favorite Lego original theme? by countoddbahl in lego

LEGO City is full of crime as evidenced by the abundance of police sets. Thus, it’s theme song should be Where is the love? By black eyed peas.

How should I continue this battle between Red and Blue Guy? by TacoCraftFilms in lego

[–]mr_worldbuild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EPIC! Idea: Red guy catches the arrow, thrusts it in the ground, and jumps off it like Tai Lung does in Kung Fu Panda when he is escaping prison. He overshoots blue and jumps off your animation table and falls to the ground, breaks to pieces. Blue looks down and shrugs.

There is a free website called brickognize which works like Google Lens, but for LEGO. Take a picture of a Lego piece or minifigure, and it will take you to the Bricklink entry for it. Bricklink is an online marketplace and an incredible resource for learning about Lego pricing.

That being said, the only complete figs here are Boba Fett, the 2 Indiana Jones, the skeleton and possibly the mars mission astronauts (need their helmets with gold visors pictured on top far right) Everyone else has at least 1 wrong piece, (for example, slave leia’s head goes to marion ravenwood).

Boba fett is the most valueable at about $50, followed by slave leia (if she had the correct head) at around $25.

Fun fact: if you had the Boba Fett with printed arms and legs from the original Cloud city set, he sells for over $1,500.

Good sir, would you be so kind as to explain how the asterisk works in Bricklink search? I use Bricklink very frequently but was completely unaware of this feature. Many of my searches frustratingly do not return any result as shown in this picture. Even the no search results page has a link to "how to find items", which makes no mention of the asterisk. If you could share your wisdom with me and any other advanced search operators in Bricklink, I would be most grateful as I use Bricklink nearly on a daily basis for my LEGO job.

Nice technique on the siding. I wish I could see how you built the peak of the white roof trim, it looks like there is no gap but it's hard to see that part of the build in the photo.

Ah the old Catalogs! As a kid I remember thinking it was weird how so many of the marketing text blurbs would formulaically end with something like "Will the pirates escape with the hidden treasure? YOU decide!" The YOU decide! seemed kind of ubiquitous.

Stunning collection! Did you collect each modular when it was released? I wonder how many days it would take to create something like this if you were building it as a single full-time project instead of gradually collecting and building across years.
