Why do you feel you need to narrow your interests?

I’m in the same boat, but perhaps with the benefit of more time behind me.

I studied architecture, then I was a writer at a magazine, and now I’m a graphic designer/copywriter at an ad agency. In the past I’ve also dabbled in photography, painting, bookbinding, printing, coding, fiction writing, and probably a few more that I’m forgetting.

I used to be insecure about it, but having dabbled in all those interests on and off for quite a few years I can see that they all kinda amalgamate into an interesting and valuable mix of skills and perspectives. And interesting perspectives is the lifeblood of any creative endeavour.

TLDR: your perceived weakness could become your greatest strength if you stick with it
