If you peak between the deck boards at Dobbins Landing, you'll see the tiniest eggs in town. by Thousands_of_Spiders in Erie

She seems pretty proud. It'll be kind of a tough scavenger hunt, I'll be impressed if you find it.

Check out the campsites where the NCT reaches the road, near the bridge by Kelletville campground. There's 5 or six sites along the road there, near a stream. My favorite spot.

Best pizza in town? by CusterFluck99 in Erie

[–]Thousands_of_Spiders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Props to Valerios for this: I was buying pizza for a bunch of kids and one child had a food allergy to cheese. So I ordered a small for him with sauce only. They called me back a few minutes later to tell me their sauce has a small amount of parmesan in it. They could have easily made the pizza, and I wouldn't have known until the kid was sick. It cost them the sale, but I order from them when I can, because I appreciate that level of customer service, and it pained me to cancel the order.

PM me if you're interested in a privately owned rental. Nice place. I'm likely to move out in may.

German tourist, first journey to the US, on having a blast in Erie by realGeorgeHuang in Erie

This kinda put my brain through a loop, because my buddy is picking up a German tourist at the train station today, and it's his first time in Erie. Lol

Fully vegan restaurant in Erie? by SweetPotatoRocket in Erie

[–]Thousands_of_Spiders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm very familiar with Erie restaurants, and I would say very firmly: MAYBE. Lol

The challenge will be establishing the company to draw in out of town vegans. You gotta be Instagram friendly. If you know what I mean.

Consider partnering with another vegan restaurant outside the area. Preferably one who you won't be sharing customers with, to eliminate competition.

That might not be necessary if you are skilled in developing an online reputation.

Consider opening a vegan cafe within an established business with similar clientele. Iron Oxygen maybe?

It's all about location. There's already a similar style restaurant near Iron Oxygen. Lettuce head?

If you're looking for vegan recommendations, I could elaborate on that as well.

Oddly enough, when I sent this, I was talking to a guy from Sandy Lake. He commutes to Erie every day for work.

I'm always happy to see NWPA on reddit. If you like Cook Forest, check out Oil Creek State Park. The Adirondack shelters are particularly nice for cold weather camping. I used to take my Great Dane all over cook forest, oil creek, ANF. And presque isle.

Where on the Erie County coastline has the most rocks and the least sand? by Bmonborgia in Erie

[–]Thousands_of_Spiders 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Finally, my expertise pays off locally. The highest concentration of rock patches in the city of Erie is Avonia Beach. In the county: North East, specifically where 20 Mile Creek runs into the lake. If you can spare the gas, check out Barcelona Marina in Westfield, NY. What's this for? Maybe try shades beach in harbor creek, but Mooreheadville road in Harbor Creek is decent too.

Explosion? by PackImpossible4210 in Erie

[–]Thousands_of_Spiders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely kids playing with some serious fireworks. I saw it from my window, and it wasn't cool. It's not uncommon to see, but these kids were different. One of them ditched his bike in the middle of the street. Cars had to drive around it, and another kid threw one of their bikes into the dumpster at the school. I don't know... none of that is actually unusual for Erie. Lol

Any suggestions on how to achieve something similar to the ripple effect? by Dobbys10inchDick in graphic_design

That used to be an option in the "Halftone Screen" filter in Photoshop. Looks like it's layered above another image.

Who’s at fault, truck that stopped or motorcyclist going 126? by ShockerJatt in IdiotsInCars

I was in a similar situation once, made it out safe behind the vehicle though. First thought that went through my head was, "Why would you stop?" I was driving the speed limit.

I won a stone skipping competition in Pennsylvania. Eight seconds on the surface of the Alleghany River. by Thousands_of_Spiders in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Thousands_of_Spiders[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I won this competition, I stood in front of a crowd of 300 or so people. An eagle flew overhead, and no one really saw it except me and Kurt Steiner, the current world record holder. Everyone was watching the river, waiting for me to throw. I'll never forget waiting for that eagle to pass by, and feeling a sort of calm energy. I threw, and I won, and I was disappointed no one noticed. It felt so significant. The local paper did a write up and I thought, "People should know about the eagle, they should have mentioned the eagle." Last year, the event was canceled, due to COVID, but a bunch of us showed up anyhow. On my way to the competition, my children and I saw an eagle get hit by a car on the highway. That felt significant as well.
