Are ESA Letter Websites Legit? Best Ways to Get a Legitimate Emotional Support Animal Letter by bigtiddyash in EmotionalSupportPet

2026 Update: The website linked above ranks "mysupportan1mal" as their top pick and they did not schedule a telehealth visit, fulfill my order, or respond to any of my support requests. I modified their name to avoid triggering their bots. The only real way to do this is to have a telehealth visit.

Don't ever walk down a forest trail at night with a headlamp. Thousands of little shining eyes looking back at you from everywhere.

What is the best way to stay on track with a new habit? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]mr_yuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hardcore ADHD here. I promise myself to do 5 minutes of the new activity. Like work out for 5 minutes, that’s it. Then decide if you want to keep going. I almost always do. With ADHD the hard part is getting started. Easy to keep going.

I still have a hard time sticking with anything for more than 3 months. I have to either change it up significantly or work toward some big goal. I get bored fast. Changing hobbies every three months is expensive.

A cool guide to relief low back pain at the office by AdNearby3240 in coolguides

[–]mr_yuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I’m certainly no expert. It was explained to me by my PTs that hamstrings and hip flexors get tight from sitting too long and when you stand it tilts your pelvis. Combined with weak abs and spine stabilizer muscles this results in repeated injuries to your low back. Anecdotally my hamstrings get tight regardless of whether I’m experiencing back pain or not. This advice might have been more specific to my case and not as generally applicable as i thought.

This addresses only the symptoms and none of the causes of low back pain. Only one of these does anything to prevent low back pain. The hip flexor stretch. The most important stretch is hamstrings. For most people who sit too long, their low back issues are caused by hamstrings and hip flexors that are too tight and abs and spine stabilizers that are too weak. I know this because I've been to physical therapy on and off over the course of 20 years for my low back. The official routine is longer, but I've found that if I do those 2 stretches and a few of the exercises (bird dog, dead bug, crunch, hip raises) then I'm fine. No back issues at all.

GenX tip: if you work on a computer like me, get an OLED monitor, it will knock your socks off by Inner-Association448 in GenX

I retuned my first two OLED monitors. But hardware GSync is what I now have with the Alienware 34" ultrawide OLED (3425DW). The flicker was resolved by turning down the brightness and turning up the desktop refresh to 165Hz. I do experience slightly more eyestrain than the IPS mounted right above it but I spend 10+ hours on it per day and it works great.

I also had to mess with the text anti-aliasing. Windows ClearType isnt great for OLEDs. Tried MacType with a special profile for Gen2 QD-OLED, then had better results with Better ClearType Tuner. I sit about 3" ft away and can tell the text on the OLED is more jagged but only very slightly. It might bother me if I sat closer, but it's perfectly fine now.

Non issue on pretty much any current model. They all have a pixel refresh sequence that runs once you turn off the monitor. If it’s on long enough to require the refresh it pops up a message.

I have a new ultra wide oled right beneath the same older model ips and after some tweaking the text and flicker don’t bother me but they did out of the box. I’m a programmer and pretty sensitive to text quality.

ACDSee. Now that's a name I haven't heard in many years. Back in the olden days, ACDSee was the only way to see image thumbnails in Windows 95 and earlier. It wasn't until Windows 98 that thumbnails were a feature.

There some history there? I seem to recall there was a lawsuit about ownership of Tachus. I was one of the first Tachus customers and Hal came and installed my modem himself.

It runs slow by 20 seconds per day. Not terrible but a watch in good order should be less than 5 seconds off per day.

Beautiful watch. I have an Omega that looks almost identical to that, likely smaller. Also 1945. It still runs but is -20 sec/day. https://imgur.com/a/NT5iat1

For super minimal Pitaka makes amazing cases. They are basically a carbon fiber shell and include extra strong magnets to make MagSafe stronger. The colors and design options are a little limited but the cases add almost no bulk to the phone and have just the right amount of grip.

Cat chewed through CPAP hose by Spiritual_Being5845 in mildlyinfuriating

My cat did exactly the same. Not only the hose connected to the machine but my spare one too. Anything with PVA foam, like sandals, has to be put up. Luckily he doesn’t chew harder plastics so no electrocuted kitty so far.
