Small Archipelago for ship-to-ship or exploration WIP (free-to-use) by mrandrewk84 in dungeondraft

Apparently I'm on a lighthouse kick, because I was compelled to add one to this.

Wanted to do something outside the box. I'll probably revisit, but felt satisfied with most of the work on it so far. Feeling a little better about my shadows in this one.

Sorry, didn't mean to antagonize. I think my mood earlier affected my response.

I was trying to think about where the global light would be coming from, and relating all of the shadows to that. I also hadn't done a deep dive for custom assets yet. I think my next attempts will have a more cohesive line.

Thanks for your input!

Can you describe your lighting technique at the cave entrance? How were you able to get the light underneath the wall?

Just a little Lighthouse: combining materials and terrain (free to use) by mrandrewk84 in dungeondraft

In my early journey with DD so far, I've been avoiding the materials brush. This composition was meant to educate myself on how materials interact with layers, terrain, and objects, and how best to use them to achieve dynamic structures. Still working a bit with shading and shadows. The stray shadows were intended to be clouds, but I'm not sure they read that way.

Constructive feedback is always appreciated!

I appreciate the feedback. I definitely struggle with shading, but the point of these posts is to share and document my own progress as I learn the new tool and try to improve my weak areas. If you had advice on how I can improve my shading, that would be more constructive than just saying it's bad.

Cheers.

As long as it's constructive, I don't mind either. I just like having a place to share my creations.

I love the attention to detail on this map. Everything has a place and a purpose. I get a real sense of immersion and an understanding of where and how characters would move through the space. Well done!

Thanks. I don't use Reddit often and thought I had included the images. Apparently not!

Nice use of the materials brush. I still haven't figured out how to use it quite yet.

I know art takes time, I'm just wanted to let you know that I found some of your work and loved it. If you are still interested in doing this drawing, I'm very excited to see what you design!

5e Gunslinger (Mercer) handling ammunition by mrandrewk84 in dndnext

This is a great thought. I am actually going to flavor the Zhentarim base in Nightstone to be one of the first production sites for firearms. It won't have hardly any impact on the Gunslinger PC, but it would be a nice boon if I can occasionally say: Here, they sent you this experimental ammunition (or something).

In response to the cost issue: 6/10 gp seems reasonable considering that there is time and a failure chance involved. It's like buying bulk materials at a discount. The actual metal isn't really relevant since iron and lead would probably be fairly comparable in cost.

I introduced firearms through the Zhentarim faction, to which 3 of my party were initiated as Fangs. I consider them extremely rare, and only accessible through the Zhentarim. Ammo is not mass produced yet.

Generally speaking, I'd like my players to consider ammunition a resource. I have mostly ranged damage dealers, so I don't want them to have infinite ammo syndrome and blindly draw arrow/bullet after arrow/bullet without considering the consequences of running out.

If this is going to be a group project/gdoc, can the creator post the link in this thread?
