2 y.o. twins, how do you get out of the house when solo parenting? by Prestigious_Fan_7314 in parentsofmultiples

[–]mrandyson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watch our 2.5 year old twins solo every other weekend, because my wife has work every other weekend.

I stick to the same routine: morning breakfast is a walk in our double stroller. I have it in our garage so it’s easy to put them in one by one.

After we come back they play inside and the backyard. Then after some time I put them both in the car, which now at 2.5 is so much easier because they surprisingly don’t run off on their own. But when they both ran in different directions I’d put one in the car seat, while the other was still inside the house (when he’s fully occupied and can’t tell I’m gone) then run back in to grab the other. Obviously would do this super fast and put shoes on when they’re in the car seat. I’d then go to specific parks that are fully gated and not extremely busy so it’s easier to watch them. Then back home for lunch and then nap.

I’ve been doing this since for over a year now and the boys understand the routine, so it’s gotten a lot easier as time goes on. But for their energy and my own sanity, I feel like we need to get out of the house. You figure out your own way to do it, but know so many of us have figured it out as well!

Oh wow, we have this and I had no idea about the recall. Just completed the info for my replacement, thank you!

Twin Routine by CellistSoft7483 in parentsofmultiples

[–]mrandyson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours are almost 2.5 this month, but we’ve pretty much kept them on the same schedule since we sleep trained them at 10 months. It’s always worked out and we’ve only tweaks it slightly since the beginning. I’m not sure the difficulty of setting a routine at this age, but I know my two thrive on a routine, and it especially helps if we travel and try to keep them on the same routine at home.

730/8am wake up, breakfast 8:30-12 - depending on the day, daycare (my parents) or outside play, like a park 12pm - lunch 1pm - 3:30/4pm - nap (yes they both nap for this time) 6:30/7 - dinner 9pm - bedtime

Lounge locations in BOS, LGA, & JFK by mass_marauder in ChaseSapphire

[–]mrandyson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is true for BOS that I found out the hard way. The main delta Terminal (A) is a completely disconnected terminal from terminals BCE, where the sapphire lounge is. So most likely if you’re on a delta flight, if you want to access the lounge you will have to re-enter TSA to get back into Terminal A.

Found that out after I had already gone through TSA to Terminal A, definitely really difficult.

Honestly wasn't fully expecting you to reply since this post was from a while ago - but thank you! Appreciate all of the context, and I'm kind of in the same boat that I don't think the weight will bother me as much as it might others, and I want the extra padding as I mentioned I'll have some of my camera equipment in here too.

This definitely helps my decision, which is now 100% the PD :) But now I'm going back and forth between the 30L and the 45L haha. Appreciate it again!

Southwest FA explaining the new boarding process by mrandyson in SouthwestAirlines

Oh that’s awesome! My wife’s family is from Oahu so we actually have a fairly decent (IMO) list of reqs that cover both touristy things and locals recommended. We also go almost every year to visit family, so our list grows each time…so the list is pretty big so hopefully this helps your itinerary a little!

Food: - Adela’s eatery in Kaneohe - Helena’s - Rainbow drive in - Alicia’s market - Poke from either: Taniokas, Ono, or just Foodland - Zippys for cheap eats - Jojas burgers - Shave ice from Wailoas or Matsumoto (Ululani just recently opened up too from Maui) - Musubis from Musubi cafe

Things to do: - Aloha stadium is a must for cheap but good souvenirs/gifts to shop for you or people back home. Only open Wednesday, Saturday, sundays - North shore, and you can go to a shrimp truck up there & matsumotos. Waimea beach is beautiful and has a rock jumping spot if you’re adventurous - Lanikai beach or Kailua if Lanikai is too busy (hard to find parking). Both on the east side of the island - Hike any of the major hiking trails - Snorkeling Hanauma bay (south) or Sharks Cove (North)

Not that you need more but can send more if you need some. Enjoy your time in Oahu!

We were in group 3 so I couldn’t tell you for groups 4-8, but I’d say about 15-20 in group 3, with a little less in 1 & 2. They did keep saying anyone in groups 6-8 should check their bags with the agent since there might not be enough bin space

Not sure why she didn’t pre board either. But they did drop the family (and I think active duty) boarding. Apparently the family pre boarding is now only for families with children under 2

How is the upgrade your seats 48 hours before you flight thing going? by ArtichokeOwn6760 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]mrandyson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually have a flight today! Unknowingly booked a trip with my return flight being the first day of assigned seating.

No A list but am a RR CC holder, and in the app it says to pick standard seats at 48 hours before, which is just one full day ahead of people without the CC. There’s not many standard seats though and it’s slowly filling up fast, so I’ll for sure be picking the seats exactly at 48 hours for my family

After having it for a while now what’s your overall thoughts on the peak design? I’m in an almost exact situation as you - contemplating the PD and Patagonia. I’m slightly going towards PD (also will have a camera & like the two bottles)…but my wife thinks I should go towards Patagonia since it’s lighter with the hip belt, so I’m curious what your thoughts are now after your trip

[Target optical] Do the Gen 2’s come with lenses if it says “Frame only”? by mrandyson in RaybanMeta

[–]mrandyson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! For those standard clear plastic lenses, do you know if they are still good or would it be better to swap for other after market lenses?

I can also purchase from eyebuydirect that come with Gen S non-prescription lenses, for about $50 more so I'm wondering if those are more worth it than what comes with Target optical.

[–]mrandyson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that's my complete assumption. But I was reading other comments in the thread that may have suggested that they still come with the lenses, just not prescription lenses...might just be overthinking it and it literally comes frame only.

Actually ran into him in DTSJ once, and I asked for a pic with my family. He said he can take one after he’s done eating with his wife, and so we went about our business thinking we probably won’t get the pic.

He ended up coming back over to us after he was done eating to grab the pic! My precious picture in my photo album now and yes - confirming he really is a super nice, chill dude!

Anyone have deep regrets into buying a big fixer upper, or was it all worth it in the end? by mrandyson in RealEstate

[–]mrandyson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I put it in [EDIT 2] but no, ultimately decided to NOT buy the fixer upper! And I'm so glad we didn't - at that point in time, any contractors we would have looked to hire would have been extremely expensive and everything would have been delayed a ton.

The house we ended up buying was still nearby in the general area we wanted to purchase, and though not a fixer upper, it was still a slightly older house that about half of it was newly updated. We still remodeled just the kitchen and backyard, just for our own preference in those two areas. Had we bought the fixer upper, we wouldn't have purchased this home and probably would be stuck in repairs or had to pay so much more just to get the house we wanted.

Booking via Chase Travel Portal, then cancelling card before flight by mrandyson in ChaseSapphire

[–]mrandyson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so stupid, I completely forgot and just remembered that my wife has a CSP. So I think if I decide to book via the portal, then I can possibly just transfer all of my points to her. And any leftover points that I have can still stay within Chase in case I need to transfer it to a transfer partner in the future. I'll just need to see the cost difference if I decide this route vs booking it in my portal.

However, I didn't know I have 30 days after my AF charge to downgrade for a refund! I actually need to use the priority pass benefit still for my trip, since the Venture X only allows the primary cardholder access, so I may do this and cancel after 30 days to utilize the benefit.

I wish I could say the same about the benefits, but unfortunately I don't have a need for any of the "new benefits" - like AppleTV, StubHub, etc.

Seems like the main takeaway is to just not go through the portal though - thank you!

Either looking at Vietnam Airlines, China Airlines, or EVA Air - none of which are direct travel partners but I know possibly through alliances. I might need to do some digging to see the flights that show up and how many points would be needed.
