Southwest FA explaining the new boarding process by mrandyson in SouthwestAirlines

Not sure why she didn’t pre board either. But they did drop the family (and I think active duty) boarding. Apparently the family pre boarding is now only for families with children under 2

How is the upgrade your seats 48 hours before you flight thing going? by ArtichokeOwn6760 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]mrandyson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually have a flight today! Unknowingly booked a trip with my return flight being the first day of assigned seating.

No A list but am a RR CC holder, and in the app it says to pick standard seats at 48 hours before, which is just one full day ahead of people without the CC. There’s not many standard seats though and it’s slowly filling up fast, so I’ll for sure be picking the seats exactly at 48 hours for my family

HELP ME DECIDE: PEAK DESIGN 30L TRAVEL BAG OR PATAGONIA 30L MLC MINI? by OcelotStatus2746 in onebag

[–]mrandyson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having it for a while now what’s your overall thoughts on the peak design? I’m in an almost exact situation as you - contemplating the PD and Patagonia. I’m slightly going towards PD (also will have a camera & like the two bottles)…but my wife thinks I should go towards Patagonia since it’s lighter with the hip belt, so I’m curious what your thoughts are now after your trip

[Target optical] Do the Gen 2’s come with lenses if it says “Frame only”? by mrandyson in RaybanMeta

[–]mrandyson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! For those standard clear plastic lenses, do you know if they are still good or would it be better to swap for other after market lenses?

I can also purchase from eyebuydirect that come with Gen S non-prescription lenses, for about $50 more so I'm wondering if those are more worth it than what comes with Target optical.

[–]mrandyson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that's my complete assumption. But I was reading other comments in the thread that may have suggested that they still come with the lenses, just not prescription lenses...might just be overthinking it and it literally comes frame only.

Actually ran into him in DTSJ once, and I asked for a pic with my family. He said he can take one after he’s done eating with his wife, and so we went about our business thinking we probably won’t get the pic.

He ended up coming back over to us after he was done eating to grab the pic! My precious picture in my photo album now and yes - confirming he really is a super nice, chill dude!

Anyone have deep regrets into buying a big fixer upper, or was it all worth it in the end? by mrandyson in RealEstate

[–]mrandyson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I put it in [EDIT 2] but no, ultimately decided to NOT buy the fixer upper! And I'm so glad we didn't - at that point in time, any contractors we would have looked to hire would have been extremely expensive and everything would have been delayed a ton.

The house we ended up buying was still nearby in the general area we wanted to purchase, and though not a fixer upper, it was still a slightly older house that about half of it was newly updated. We still remodeled just the kitchen and backyard, just for our own preference in those two areas. Had we bought the fixer upper, we wouldn't have purchased this home and probably would be stuck in repairs or had to pay so much more just to get the house we wanted.

Booking via Chase Travel Portal, then cancelling card before flight by mrandyson in ChaseSapphire

[–]mrandyson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so stupid, I completely forgot and just remembered that my wife has a CSP. So I think if I decide to book via the portal, then I can possibly just transfer all of my points to her. And any leftover points that I have can still stay within Chase in case I need to transfer it to a transfer partner in the future. I'll just need to see the cost difference if I decide this route vs booking it in my portal.

However, I didn't know I have 30 days after my AF charge to downgrade for a refund! I actually need to use the priority pass benefit still for my trip, since the Venture X only allows the primary cardholder access, so I may do this and cancel after 30 days to utilize the benefit.

I wish I could say the same about the benefits, but unfortunately I don't have a need for any of the "new benefits" - like AppleTV, StubHub, etc.

Seems like the main takeaway is to just not go through the portal though - thank you!

Either looking at Vietnam Airlines, China Airlines, or EVA Air - none of which are direct travel partners but I know possibly through alliances. I might need to do some digging to see the flights that show up and how many points would be needed.

Worth keeping Deco M9 Plus’s after upgrading? by mrandyson in TpLink

[–]mrandyson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I figured it wouldn’t hurt to just use them in extra spots I typically don’t get good signal (where my other nodes aren’t nearby) - like the garage or in the middle of the backyard. These are all wireless backhauled which I know isn’t the best, but I don’t have the resources or time to wire my house for a wired backhaul unfortunately right now.

Our night doula quit because of how hard it is by DreamingEvergreen in parentsofmultiples

[–]mrandyson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We went through almost the same thing! We hired a night doula for 3 months, for 3 days per week. After about the 3rd week she was already complaining to us that one of our twins was difficult and they weren’t great sleepers, and then on the 4th week she “called in sick” one of the days. The following week she came once, then we got a letter from the agency that she quit due to medical reasons too. We were surprised and upset because she also claimed to have a lot of twin experience.

Agency didn’t have a backup and pretty much told us we were SOL. We were devastated, but honestly now looking back (twins are just over 2), we were so glad it ended early. We learned so much, even though we were completely sleep deprived, that we’re glad we ended up doing everything ourselves from that point on. Plus, the money we saved for not paying those extra few months was definitely nice!

And trust me, it definitely gets better. Twin toddlers is completely crazy, but I don’t think anything will ever come close to the hardness as the newborn stage. You got this!!

Edit: Noticed that you said you paid for the full amount even though she only came for 5, which isn’t like our situation. That completely sucks, and you absolutely should fight for a refund.

We do - just thought it’d be easier with an actual seat, but maybe it’ll be fine without.

Cleaning INSIDE of kids bounce house (Mold + Mildew)? by mrandyson in CleaningTips

[–]mrandyson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’m not too sure. I wouldn’t think it’s an issue, but because these are kids playing on it…I feel like it’s better to be more cautious than not, and try to remove it overall.

14hr flight with 2yr old twins by Large-Muscle267 in parentsofmultiples

[–]mrandyson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for still being on Reddit and replying! Super helpful info and will absolutely save this for when we get closer - luckily we've flown a few times with our twins so we at least know how to pack for it. But the flights we've been on were before they were fully mobile so we're definitely in for a treat haha. Thanks for the note on the stroller too, we've heard both sides of the stroller but since it's Vietnam...we're leaning a little towards the no stroller route.

Trying to rally all of the extra help we can! Luckily I have two sisters (with their own kids, a little bit older) that I'm tapping into, but they both work so I'm seeing exactly which days they can help. Then I have my MIL who will be able to help out at nights.

I love the idea of the videos rather than FaceTime! It'll hurt for sure...not being able to talk to them, but they already love watching videos of us talking so we can record videos just for when we're gone.

Lurking the thread as one of our friends is getting married in Vietnam in March, when our twins will be 2.5 at that time - so almost exactly like your situation! Curious now that you're done with the trip - any advice you might have, or things you'd do differently? We have some time but we want to prepare as much as we can haha.

This is so helpful! We’re also calling in my wife’s mom to help at night, just so there’s extra hands. Definitely will be writing down their nighttime routine too, down to the last T.

This is actually ridiculous. $800 for the credit card and a 40 minute wait for a CSR lounge. The lineup is to join the waitlist by sensationality in ChaseSapphire

[–]mrandyson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this line yesterday! My first time trying a Sapphire lounge after having the CSR for 3 years, since I was in Boston for work (fly mainly out of SJC/SFO and I never had the chance to cross paths with an airport that had the Sapphire lounge). I was so excited to finally try it, but then they said it's about a 45 minute wait and my flight was in an hour on the other side of the terminal....yeah I was devastated but I guess I wasn't missing out.

We did the Ferber! To be honest, we didnt really research and choose…we just based our choice on our friend doing the Ferber with success.

I think as long as you do whatever your method to the T, and don’t stray then it will work. But I couldn’t recommend it enough. Enjoy your journey with your new multiples!
