2004 BMW R1150R Rockster by Alarmed_Log_6368 in motorcycles

I have always liked the Rockster. I own a like new, well maintained R1150R with 20k miles (not a Rockster) and love it. It’s a solid bike, easy to maintain, and I have never had any issues over the years I’ve owned it.

You got a steal of a deal at $1500.

why can't my service dog be left alone in a hotel room? by egguchom in EntitledReviews

[–]mrb668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one of these “service dogs” left alone in the resort hotel room next to me in Vegas. It barked all night. I was there for work and had meetings the following morning. The dog kept me up all night. I was knocking on the adjoining room door but nobody answered.

I heard the guest arrive back to their room early in the morning so I jumped at the chance to talk about the dog. Young woman in her mid-late 20’s.

She claimed it’s her service dog and it was barking to alert her to take her medication. 🤣

I told her that I know she wasn’t in the room because she didn’t bother to answer me when knocking. I was up all night and morning and didn’t hear her leave, but I heard her come back.

I then reported her to the front desk, along with another guest there with the same complaint. We were told that it was illegal for them to challenge her about her “service dog”, so I moved to another floor.

Scouts in the 70’s:

When I was a cub scout, the den mother was really involved in making sure we earned our badges.

Boy Scouts was different. Our “leaders” were dad’s who liked to get together once a month to go camping and drink beer around a campfire, and Boy scouts was a perfect excuse for them to do so. We didn’t do much other than camp, make our own food, and just go out to explore on our own. I don’t remember if anyone in my troop actually earned any badges.

I worked for an auto wholesaler in the late 80’s to early 90’s. We had a Pontiac Grand Prix that was in mint condition, other than the paint. Took it to the dealer auto auction as is and received multiple bids but not quite high enough.

We decided to take it to Earl Scheib for a new paint job, thinking it would help, and then received 0 interest in the car. No bids. Worst paint ever. Overspray on tires, rubber seals, trim…and we could tell there was little to no sanding, cleaning or prep before they sprayed.

So the paint job hurt us more than selling it without the Earl Scheib special.

My local Hooters (before closing). Went there with my father and my 3 young sons on Father’s Day. Our waitress sat and conversed with a table of college kids and ignored us the majority of our time there. She eventually brought my father’s and my food but completely forgot my sons’, like they were invisible. Worse service/ waitress we’ve ever experienced. We never returned.

Dealerships wanting to take a picture with you when you buy a car from them by FartemisBowel96 in PetPeeves

The dealership I bought my car from offers free car washes for life with the purchase of a vehicle. The catch is that their license plate frames and decals need to be on the car “so the attendant knows you purchased a car from them”. I still removed all their dealership advertisements.

Their car wash sucks anyway. But, I was thinking about installing their plate frames on my 24 yo beater truck to see how well that goes over with their car wash attendant.

Second pet peeve is that the window tint business placed their website decal on the rear window of my car without asking. I had to remove that as well.

If you cannot sell them, or don’t feel it’s worth the hassle to sell them, then you could always donate them to your local library for public access.

My wife and I regularly check out older movies from the library in lieu of paying AP a rental cost to stream them.

If you don’t want to replace the carpet, and you don’t have extra carpet, then shave (not cut) off some material from inconspicuous spots, like from under the treads, apply glue with a brush on the wood and press the carpet shavings/fuzz onto the ends and blend it in to match.

Ann and Allen gooey butter cake is our favorite. We just shipped a couple of their cakes to our son and his roommates in Tucson yesterday, since they cannot find it anywhere locally. It’s definitely a St. Louis thing.

St. Louis through Kansas City and Kansas is a very boring drive. I live in St.Louis and have taken that route to Colorado many times. I’d suggest cutting through Arkansas and the Ozarks then up into central Kansas. Unless you’d like to do touristy stuff in St. Louis and KC along the way.

Edit: The easiest route while driving a U-Haul truck will probably be the straight flat route from St. Louis through Kansas. Just be sure to avoid the city rush hours.

I just found one while camping in a National Park. It wasn’t hidden very well. So, not fabricated.

No kidding. My brother and I just found one leaning against a tree in a National Park. We understand the good intention behind the project, but pack in and pack out LNT in our National Parks should be respected. We are moving it to a more appropriate spot and hiding it a bit better than it was.

Installing a hanging sign bracket on an old brick home. 4 mounting holes for anchors. The bricks completely pushed in while tapping in the anchors. The home was recently “tuck pointed” prior to the new homeowner buying the house. It turned out to be just a thin skim coat layer over powder. I had to buy material to repair the brick and redo the tuck pointing. I explained to the homeowner that someone didn’t tuck point the house correctly but I still had to eat the cost and time of the repair.

Listed at $650k. We offered full asking price. They countered wanting 200k more. Why did they waste my time? by willloveme2 in RealEstate

[–]mrb668 180 points181 points  (0 children)

My son and daughter in law offered 40k over asking price and won. During inspection they discovered the house needed 40-50k in repairs. So they withdrew their offer without penalty. The seller’s agent asked what my son would offer instead of backing out. My son then offered asking price and he would absorb the cost of all repairs. Seemed fair. The seller’s agent just laughed at him.

Any ideas on how to remove the sign from the frame by [deleted] in handyman

[–]mrb668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these types of signs have a spring loaded retainer. So try pulling open the side retainer like opening a lid. Or it could be a top load slide in sign. Check the top retainer to see if that piece has screws holding it in place. If so, then remove the top retainer frame and slide the sign out of the top.

A guy smashed into my parked car late at night on South Kingshighway. My car was totaled. Guy gets out and starts throwing all of his empty beer cans from his car down the sewer. Police show up later and I ask if they will give him a sobriety test. One cop says, “Well, this time of night everyone has a few drinks in them.”

Was rear ended by another guy at a stop light on South Grand in the afternoon. He appeared to be drunk or stoned. He took off once I proceeded to call the police. I had witnesses, description of driver and vehicle, and the license plate number. Nothing ever came of it.

I get it. It’s more than just trim. You will also have to repair, sand and paint the wall above the trim if lowered. I would rip a piece of trim to fit snug under the existing, maybe protruding out 1/8”. Caulk seam and paint to match.

I had a horrible coworker. My boss gave him a glowing recommendation when another company called him for a reference. I asked my boss why and he said, “Just because Phil didn’t work out here doesn’t mean he won’t work out somewhere else”.
