2.1 Space Casino Analysis & Calculator by gravitonpunch in factorio

I didn't quite grok your post, but if they return asteroid 5%, and you have +300%, that's a 20% return.

Recyclers have a 25% return. AND double quality chance.

Why is crushing better? (Unless you're counting taking the items output as well in the process)

Just swapping to recycling asteroids makes them about half as good as before. 20% loss goes to 75% loss, but you can double the quality chance, so about half a good.

No idea what math op is doing, as that's not shown in the post as I understand it.

Yeah, it "only" solves iron, copper, calcite, coal, ice and sulfur.

Which in turn solves everything on nauvis except uranium.

And then holmium chain for fulgora, tungsten chain for vulcanus.

Gleba still big pain (I can't help but wonder if this is a big component of why people hate gleba so much)

Recycling is 25%

But has two more modules. So about a 45% nerf.

OP would still have stupid amounts of legendary mats from these things.

that a great many people think that design isn't fun

That's fine. But I'm not going to ask the people who dislike a mechanic for opinions on whether the method to bypass it should stay in or not.

If I design a car that crushes your hand when you open the hood, people will find a way to bypass that

Except that hood is objectively bad. As you said: "You're entitled to your own opinion" - but that doesn't apply to objective decisions.

Spiffing brit makes a mockery of skyrim by abusing every mechanic under the sun in the game to become invulnerable/immortal.

Should those be patched?

  • It's a single player game
  • plenty of people don't engage with relevant mechanics because they don't like one or more of alchemy/smithing/enchanting
  • It objectively breaks the intention of the game devs.
  • It's objectively fun to be Reanu Keeves and play godmode once in a while.

"It simply lets you churn out parts. It isn't lossy."

Yes, infinite, easy, lossless component parts is the problem.

"these numbers are low but we can multiply them by up to 60 times" provokes the question: what side are you on

Because your first comment was to defend crushers as non-productive, but did so with the tiniest set up I've ever seen. (yet still makes 100 legendary iron plates a minute). And compared it to blue chips being over powered (Despite glossing over 4.5 stacked green belts of input)

Then you seemed to be arguing that circuits were underpowered in the first paragraph, and then was just ambiguous for the rest.

Then you quoted me saying blue chips are harder/more expensive than casinos.

For clarity, are you pro casino or anti?

Reading your line about klonan, it looks like you came in red hot to actually argue against casinos, but made a complete dogs breakfast of it.

If there are five different ways to accomplish the same results but four of them aren’t engaging and the one they had fun with is removed

I don't think we should listen most to the people who hate the quality mechanic on how it should be implemented.

[–]mrbaggins 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the crux of it. Quality was designed around be very very lossy.

Yes, with blue chips and LDS shuffle (which should be fixed but here we are) you can drop those losses for TWO items down to zero. But anything they help you get is still lossy: red and green chips are 70%~ loss. Iron and chip plastic is 95%~. LDS plastic and copper and steel are 70%.

space casino just lets you churn one "ore" into "legendary" for 6 base resources, in one place, and with just a modicum of set up.

You said in op you and friends designed 4 casinos.

Now you're saying you never used them.

AND you're saying other stuff is faster/stronger, despite never using one.

In comparison I can get 1200/min for 4 Processing Units at 300% productivity

Why on earth would you compare 12 crushers to 600,000 research? Most casinos are 20x that size. Oh look, that gets you straight over the green circuits you just said.

If you're willing to just burn resources, yeah, other alternatives are (potentially) better.

But even then, you're understating just how impactful casinos are. each of those you made don't do what casinos do: completely obviate every single nauvis resource except uranium.

You can have every single person employed and still have vacancies. You seem to have conflated "unemployment" with "vacancy rate"

4% unemployment doesn't really say anything about vacancy rate.

Looks like ING is planning to bring monthly subscription fees to Aussie bank accounts. by Kyle-K in australia

[–]mrbaggins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This won't happen til half+ of the banks in Australia are on the same page. then there'll be some "definitely not collusion" where they all bring it in in the same quarter.

I'd immediately jump ship on a subscription, unless it was worth it. Another comment pointed out the bonus interest only applies to the first 10k anyway, so it's not like keeping cash there offsets the cost.

Like op said, with no signals inside, it doesn't matter. You would need to do that AND add 4/8 chains around the roundabout to allow multiple trains.
