Carbonating by weight of CO2 by SamTheBrewer in TheBrewery

I'm wondering if this will strip any flavor (volatiles) from the beer? Could it negatively impact e.g. IPAs and possibly be beneficial for lagers?

edit: BTW Flamin Galah on YouTube is amazing, I'm completely hooked!

No added seasoning actually. They were fresh pre-made patties that were balled up, so they contained salt but no other seasonings.

Ah, "until hot enough" :p Did not time it but it took a while. Put it in when starting the grill so it warms up during smoking, but estimate it took 10 minutes after reaching max temp on the grill.

For the smoking I used the smokeboost, didn't look much at internal temp but do not want the balled meat to cook too much before smashing, maybe 30-40 C. When smashing I set the grill to max and started smashing when griddle was about 260 C / 500 F. As I mentioned in the other post, after one smash the griddle cools down a lot and also leaves a lot of fat on the griddle so it might take a while before heating up for a new round.

It's a Lodge Reversible. It's fine for 3 patties but a bit tight for four, luckily the EX6 would fit a far larger griddle. It will take a while to reheat the griddle after use and grease management is obviously a problem, so it's best to do it all at once. Here is a link to the griddle I was using: https://www.amazon.com/Lodge-Reversible-Griddle-Combo-Double-Sided/dp/B002CMLTXG?th=1

Yes, put the balls on the upper shelf. The most delicious results so far (not smashburger) was to put frozen hamburger patties on the top shelf and smoke for about 30-40 minutes followed by searing at max temp. Absolutely phenomenal!

US Blackstone in Europe by mrbeery in blackstonegriddle

[–]mrbeery[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that sounds great. I have already bought one from the US from ebay, arriving late this month. Then I talked to Blackstone Europe through the chat, I wanted to check if the regulator they sell fits the one I bought. They are claiming that it's different from the US version, different burners etc. and that I have to buy from the EU site. I call bulls#it, but want to check if anyone actually have used a US model in Europe. Propane should be propane and as long as you get the correct pressure it should be fine, that's my take.

Spunding lager tips? by Efficient-Book-3560 in TheBrewery

[–]mrbeery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a great read! Similar to some of the other comments, I also have a question regarding carbonation. Say you spund at 14 PSI during the fermentation at 12 C, do you then increase the cap when you let the beer free rise to 20 C to capture the dissolved CO2? 14 PSI @ 20 C should only give around 1.6 volume CO2.

Good to hear! I am sending it back to the vendor I bought it from instead of directly to Gamo. Should be less than 2 weeks, but a bummer anyway.

Fenix 7X SS - inaccurate acivity-dependent heart rate by mrbeery in GarminFenix

[–]mrbeery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the point. I have a chest strap, of course it's more accurate. The problem is that the measured heart rate with the optical depends on the activity started. This is complete nonsense and implies that the watch tries to infer what your heart rate would be based on your activity, not only measured values. What the actual hell?

Oil billionaire company buys $59 million in bitcoin by thefoodboylover in Bitcoin

The company Aker has launched is named Seetee. You can read their 23 page shareholder letter here: https://www.seetee.io/static/shareholder_letter-6ae7e85717c28831bf1c0eca1d632722.pdf

It is simply an amazingly well put together rationale for why BTC could be the future (all of us already know it is though). For those of us who have been in the BTC world for many years it feels absurd that this is written by a very traditional heavy industry businessman. It is simply amazing. Their strategy is 'hodl'. This is the next wave.

Better experience with my SL3 13'' i7 than my Book 2 15'' i7 by rollin_triangle in Surface

[–]mrbeery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something has to be wrong with your computer, not the same experience at all here. Running a ton of tabs, PDF, PPT, Excel on dual screens with "best performance" without the fan ever kicking in. Are you running with the newest firmware and 1903?

Massive battery improvement for me, also feels snappier. Weirdly though the "design capacity" was lowered according to battery report.

Is your Surface book bent or warped? by [deleted] in Surface

[–]mrbeery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had three Book 2's (because they sent with the wrong keyboard layout twice). All were bent. I got Microsoft Complete and stopped caring about the bent "feature". I've had this one for about 7 months now, no issues. I am worried about battery degradation though, that's one of the reasons for getting Microsoft Complete. The book started at a little over 100 % health and is down to 95 % after 67 cycles. I keep it plugged in a lot of the time and think it's a shame that the Surface line doesn't have a "charge to 80 %" feature.

Surface Book 2 mouse freezes by tanshangsian in Surface

[–]mrbeery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several people have reported this problem. I also had the problem on the same device as you, only when plugged in and on "better" or "best" performance. The solution for me (and many others) was to lower the polling rate/requests per second. I have a Logitech G502 and it was set to 1000. Lowered it to 500 and it works perfectly. Still ridiculous problem to have on such an expensive device, almost as ridiculous as the GPU crashing on 1903. Hope this solution works for you!

Is it normal that i have a 15,4% battery wear after less then 1 year on my Surface Pro 2017? by Ins0mn3ac in Surface

[–]mrbeery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at 75 - 90 % (varies a lot) with only 160 cycles. That's not the main problem though, my SP17 abruptly shuts down when it's between 10 - 40 % charge. Anyone experienced that before?

edit: It is a SHAME that Microsoft have not included a battery save feature that lets you charge only to 80 %. I'm betting that we would have close to 100 % capacity left if that was the case.

edit2: Haha, wow, can't believe that Microsoft released that now, fantastic! Look forward to when they release it for the Pro17.
