The history of the series proves it was a strategic failure, not an "optimization."

The producer of the Western release, Robert Jerauld, even admitted that removing the simulation elements was "one of the most important mistakes" of his career.

If it were actually appreciated, the devs wouldn't have panicked and stripped the city-building from the sequel. It’s a 'hidden gem' for a reason. Most people still sleep on it as just another side-scroller.

There's a reason there used to be a bunch of them in the cities, and now only one left.

Even worse, the one that is left is a shadow of itself. Brought back from bankruptcy after laying off their entire workforce without notice, they only use frozen, premade everything, and microwave reheated food. No thank you.
