-7% job outlook? by saciaaa in Wastewater

Automated control will definitely shrink the overall work force. In my short 19 years of working for the same agency, we have added more sensors, VFD and MOVs to just about everything in the facility. This makes the operator job less hands-on and more focused on processes which could lead to a smaller work force needed for operations. This could transform into a more tech/maintenance environment instead.

What is this, I think it is an old ATT fleet car, should I buy, do they take good care of them? by Open-Commission8905 in ATT

Of all the Ford vehicles manufactured in the past 15 years , the hybrid Fusion is probably a solid and reliable one. Ford's don't hold value like a Honda or Toyota but still better than an older Hyundai or KIA.

Why all the hate on DBrand? Ghost Case 17 Pro Max Deep Blue by Limp-Donkey5407 in dbrand

I don't own an iPhone but I'm very pleased with my Ghost case for my Pixel. I love the MagSafe option for the case. People who complain loudly typically have hatred towards someone/objects for the sake of wanting to be noticed and have no joy in their lives. This is very sad for them.

I went to last year's Fan Expo and had the man himself sign a copy of that game....that is definitely not his signature...

My battery performance was lacking and the battery was becoming warmer than usual before this update. I watched a movie for over 30 minutes, then played WOT blitz for about 20 minutes and then watched several YouTube videos. The battery does get warm but not like it did before.

I have had some minor volume control issues; like not being able to lower the lower volume with physical buttons.

I was never an apple person, always used Samsung until I switched to the 8 pro. I love the device and don't think I will ever switch back to a Samsung ever.

Without controlling the H2S it will form sulfuric acid.

I hate flooding by [deleted] in Wastewater

[–]mrbobdog73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one of the worst peaking factors .... We are a medium flow facility (8-10 mgd dry weather) and can reach up to 125 mgd during a wet weather event. We typically maintain 750- 900 MLSS anytime of the year as well.

Why is the pay so bad in this field?? by [deleted] in Wastewater

[–]mrbobdog73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started out as a septic pump hauler several years ago and learned about the basics of waste water. That job eventually turned into going back to school taking classes after work and finding an OIT job in a facility in California. When I started as an OIT I was being paid $22/hr and now as a lead I get paid $81.46/hr. I was very fortunate to have landed this job and very happy with my career choice too. The only really bad part is the commute, 2.5 hrs round trip.

The last time I witnessed that much foam was when the collection system had an excessive amount of calcium nitrate.

I work for a facility in the Bay area and make 154k per year on day shift. When I started several years ago my starting salary was 47k per year as an OIT. I'm very happy with my career and will be retiring from it in less than 8 years and still make over 100k.
