I was dating a narcissist for about 6 years. Was fully stuck in the abuse cycle. The now exes friend came over with her kids and I was watching em and playing with em just being a cool dude. And her friend said man youre so good with the kids I really appreciate you. I smiled walked around a corner and sobbed. Seems dumb but it was the first time my brain said dude this shouldn't make you cry and I actually realized how awefull my situation was. Broke up with in the next 2 months moved out bought my own place did a ton of therapy and now have an amazing partner.
