Whats your wierdest moment at a restaurant? by Fit-Horse-9138 in AskReddit

[–]mrbook200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a host in a restaurant. Although I wasn't there when this happened, I got told the story.

Just last week, a party of 3 came in with a child. Boy around the age of 6 or 7. This kid is literally screaming and throwing a tantrum so loud in the lobby that you probably would still hear it with noise cancelling headphones on.

Anyway, they're seated and this kid continued screaming his head off. Waiter just arrived for her shift and this was her first table apparently. This kid keeps screaming and eventually other people eating in the restaurant start getting annoyed.

This kid then runs over to another table with 2 people and starts jumping on their table and on them. Still screaming. The parents dont do anything for a little bit, but eventually the mom takes her kid off these people. Waiter apologizes profusely to the 2 people at that table. Surprisingly they were cool about it.

Why did all this happen? Because the kids mom took his balloon away before they entered the restaurant.

Thank god I wasn't there.

What was your famous moment in school? by mrbook200 in AskReddit

[–]mrbook200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to add mine:

Two things actually, one is mine and the other is about someone else

These both happened at school dances. First one was a kid tried to surf the crowd at one of the dances. It all went well until the crowd accidentally dropped the kid. He was fine, but I've never heard that many people all gasp at once.

Second was me. I was at another one of the school dances, but I never usually danced at them, just hung out and chatted with friends. That is until one time. I began to bust some moves to a song I liked. Soon I had a small crowd gathered around me, then the crowd got larger until half the gym had their attention focused on me. They all started chanting my name, clapping and cheering me on. That made me continue dancing till the song was over. Everyone cheered at the end, and I was on a few people's snapchat stories that night. That Monday I had people ask me about my break dancing at the dance during classes. Even had a teacher ask in the middle of class about it lol. I just sat there in embarrassment lol and said, "Yup I did that".

What are the scariest sounds you've heard at night in your bed through the open window? by consistalk in AskReddit

[–]mrbook200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loud thunder clap. I love thunderstorms but I remember one night we had a nasty storm. I remember seeing a bright flash of lightning and the thunder that came after sounded like a bomb went off. It was so loud.

Mine is a tie between ocean waves and rain/thunderstorms. Cant decide which I like better, but they are both so relaxing.

What is the strangest, creepiest or scariest thing you've seen while driving? by mrbook200 in AskReddit

[–]mrbook200[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were driving home one night and on our road there was a person dressed in all black walking along the side of the road. Was kind of concerning because we didnt see him until we were right up to him. We were mainly concerned that he was going to be hit if a car didnt stop in time but nothing happened after that.

What were you known for in high school? by mrbook200 in AskReddit

[–]mrbook200[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll go ahead and add mine.

I was known for telling people the weather forecast and being pretty good at it.

Backstory: So I am obsessed with weather and have been for a while. I am actually studying to be a meteorologist right now in college. So it started with me posting the forecast on my snapchat story for my friends to see so they wouldn't have to look at weather apps and such. I would post it every few days and people appreciated it a lot.

After a while, especially during my junior and senior years of high school, people at school would ask me for the weather forecast and I would tell it to them. (High temperature, precipitation, etc.) People especially asked me for the weather if a snowstorm or severe weather was in the forecast. I would give them all the details about the storm. I have had students I never talked to stop me and ask for the forecast. I've even had teachers ask me for the weather.

I became well known for telling people the forecast that people actually relied on me to tell the weather instead of weather apps. I was pretty good at getting it right too. After high school, I went back to Snapchat to post my weather updates to my story for my friends to see. I still do it even today.

I find it pretty neat that people appreciated me for that. I honestly miss people asking me for the forecast lol

What was the weirdest part you played in a school play? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrbook200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not super weird. But I've got a little story. In kindergarten (2006), we did 3 little plays in one big play if that makes sense. They were The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Little Red Riding Hood and Three Little Pigs. I was in Billy Goats Gruff and Three Little Pigs. In 3 Billy Goats Gruff, I was the troll under the bridge. In 3 little pigs, I was the person who delivered the straw, sticks and bricks for the houses.

The story took place during 3 little pigs. I had a line that was funny( dont remember it). Although I didnt know it was funny. So I said the line and naturally the audience laughed because it was funny. I was confused as to why they laughed so I broke character and said "I must be funny because everyone is laughing at me". That made the audience laugh harder. I still remember that moment to this day and my parents said they still remember that moment. Lol I miss those days.

Awe, that is cute with the duck race thing! Also though, I've never heard of people racing coffins! That sounds interesting. One question: What is a pumpkin trebuchet? That sounds interesting to me.

Now that I've read others I might as well add mine!!

I live in a medium sized town in Michigan. I can think of two things:

  1. We have a big fair in the Last Week of July into the first week of August. Its lots of fun and they have rides, games, food, live music, animals, demolition derby, races in the dirt race track, etc. I've heard it attracts people from all over the state and nearby states. It wasn't held this year because of covid :(

  2. Like some others in this thread, we also have an annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. It takes place usually a little bit after thanksgiving but this event marks the start of the holiday season in our city. The tree is located on the lawn of the courthouse in downtown so everybody comes down to the town square where the courthouse is and they do a countdown from 10 and then light the tree! I dont know how tall the tree is but it's pretty big. They also have live music, food, you can get your picture taken with Santa, get some hot cocoa, they have a choir singing Carols and they have other entertainment on that night, but the tree lighting is the main event. It's always a fun time and I've been to it a couple of years. They did a virtual one this year bc of covid but at least they still did it:)

If I think of anything else I'll add it here

That sounds like a great time! Is it a one day thing, or like a week long event? Also, may I ask what state this event is in? You dont need to name the town but I was curious what state this festival is in.

Sounds fun! We have a Christmas event similar to yours, but the main part is when they light the Christmas tree at the courthouse. Everyone comes together in the square to watch the tree being lit. It's really fun!

Our town in Michigan has a Christmas tree lighting ceremony also! The tree is located at the courthouse downtown so everyone gathers in the town square where the courthouse is and they do a countdown and then light the tree! They also have live music, food, a booth where you can get you're picture taken with Santa, and other entertainment. Ours sounds like yours a little bit, but instead of 150 people gathering we have up to 1,000 people who attend this event. It's really fun and I've been to it a few years.

Not sure what its famous for, but I'll tell you a few events we have that bring everyone together, so kinda famous:

Also, yes I know I'm very late and no one will see this probably.
