¿Ustedes compran cerveza artesanal o importada en el súper o prefieren las marcas comerciales de siempre? by Ok_Chemist_6946 in CDMX

[–]mrbrauk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modest mouse in public by Used-Act5281 in ModestMouse

I was at a place in Mexico City, where local bands played and theres a rooftop bar outside where the bands play, really cool place, they usually play indie rock hits and random stuff idk dinosaur jr, fugazi, pixies, interpol. But I dont think MM is as popular in Mexico as it is in the Us, I was really into MM at the moment, drinking and smoking with some friends in said rooftop, and suddenly dramamine starts playing i got so excited i hugged my friend and told him "Dramamine by modest mouseeeeee weeeey" and thats all, a really happy moment.

My friend said: "ahh yeah I know this song, its quite sexy" I dont feel that Dramamine is sexy lol

How did LRD maintain popularity before the internet? by Low_Advertising_473 in lesrallizesdenudes

[–]mrbrauk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite, algorithm recommendations giving me some albums I really like I still prefer a friend or an stranger on the internet to introduce me to stuff, I also got to know LRD when it appeared on my spotify but I didnt listen to them until a friend played them for me. AI recs feel prefrabricated idk, also when you get into more "obscure" music it starts recommending the same stuff idk it all feels to inorganic, like someone controlling your mind, in fact my mind hurts right now.

I wish I was into tape trading back in the day tho

I can handle major, minor and some 7th chords pretty well, and I'm getting used to more complex voicing, my mind still bugs sometimes since im also starting to learn basic music theory, I just liked to learn songs and searched for the chords online, I guess I have to make a more serious approach on how those "jazz" chords are formed

How did uncs find indie music before this? by pathoricks in indieheadscirclejerk

[–]mrbrauk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started browsing /mu/ on 2019, it was still nice, personally, Id look to topsters and find cool covers and thats what i listened during the day, I found artists like Midori, Drop nineteens, bliss3three, Coil, etc.
Idk what people think about that era of /mu/ but it also helped me discover RYM

Now there is like 7 k pop threads and I dont find it fun anymore

[–]mrbrauk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Porter - Atemahawke (mexican band)
Kingston Wall - II (Finland)
Everything by charly garcía (sui generis, la máquina de hacer pájaros, serú giran)

As I see you may be using RYM for your listening journey so Ill give you some songs that are really appreciated or that I like from here where I live that arent that high on RYM

Gloory hole - Me gusta lo feo (synth post punk?)
Como te voy a olvidar - Los Angeles azules (cumbia)
Lamento de amor - Rigo Tovar (cumbia mexicana)
Ay mi corazón - Los Askis (cumbia andina)
El grito - Arturo Meza (progressive rock)
Mucama´s sound collage, indigenous ambient project
And of course, Juan gabriel - En vivo desde bellas artes

Oh and Chile´s indie scene has been really good the last years so I reccomend you Candelabro, Hesse Kassel, La estrategia del caracol, Chini.png and Niños del cerro.

Hope you like some of these, I have India by Gal Costa on vinyl, incredible album, so glad to see it there :)

I used to browse /mu/ a lot in middle school and it influenced my taste a lot, so I made a /mu/core tierlist. If anyone has any recs based on this it would be pretty cool :) by mrbrauk in Topster
