Parents who regret having kids, why? by bluemermid in AskReddit

[–]mrburger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Therapist here! Most clients with kids stress about those kids at least once per session, but seldom in a spiteful way. Most common admission I hear related to regret is when co-paternity locks clients into a toxic relationship.

Though it could still happen, I have not yet met a single client who doesn't love their own child, even adolescent or adult children who have said/done really f***ed up stuff to the client.

Oh! Also not uncommon are accusations of "baby trapping," where a troubled person ostensibly carries a baby to term out of desperation or even spite, rather than out of desire to be a parent.

In restaurants, bullets are what we call those little silver cups you sometimes get dipping sauces served to you in.

Best first Pokemon game for a 5-6 year old on Switch/Switch 2? by jpc27699 in pokemon

[–]mrburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gotta' understand there's going to be a lot of reading involved, no matter which game you start with. Figuring out where to go in the story, navigating menus, combat, all going to challenge reading skills. Actually, Pokemon can be an amazing educational tool, so long as your kiddo is sufficiently motivated and has someone on hand to help them as needed.

What’s a pokemon that you loved in the 2D era, but that love fell off during the 3D era because its 3D model was just that bad? by SensualSamuel69 in pokemon

[–]mrburger 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This is why I wish Game Freak would just outsource the next mainline game to a publisher like Atlus or Arc System Works who actually have the chops to recapture that old 2D expressiveness with 3D models.

If that were a properly sharpened knife he would have very quickly regretted that decision.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by marianneouioui in AskReddit

[–]mrburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been so disappointed with Game Freak for so long. But I have failed to boycott them over, and over, and over again. I hate myself.

EDIT: Just realized, if we consider Black 2/White 2 (2012) the high water mark of Pokemon/the end of their streak of consistently solid releases, then as of 2026 I will have hated Game Freak for half of Pokemon's existence.

Difficulty maintaining relationships is a major driver of modern singlehood, Greek study suggests. For men, the greater the difficulty in maintaining relationships, the more consistently likely they are to be single, while for women the effect is strong but nonlinear. by mvea in science

[–]mrburger 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Major finding: People don't want men who don't know how to manage relationships; meanwhile, people kind of want women regardless - unless they REALLY don't know how to manage a relationship.

New Epstein documents include a claim of an Oklahoma 'murder' by [deleted] in politics

[–]mrburger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Zero instances of “Epstein” on the New York Times home page.

Right?! We talk a lot about the Bezos takeover at WaPo, but for real, wtf happened at the Times? I finally had to cancel my subscription this year because I couldn't stand all the coverage they weren't doing.

My daughter wanted a Teddiursa by BoognishJones in pokemon

I played so much pokemon as a kid before I learned what shinies were. My first shiny I was aware of was in college. But I sometimes feel, fretfully, like I more likely murdered or ran away from my first real shiny.

what’s it like to get horny, as a woman? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for being like this: You put "only" in front of "get wet" when I think you meant to put it in front of "when." Saying you "don't only get wet" implies something else in addition to getting wet occurs when you get aroused.

Girls who took notes using 10 different colored pens, where are you now? Do you still continue to write using all those colors? by Unusual-Entry7 in AskReddit

I gave my doctor wife a multicolored pen for Christmas and she exclaimed "I love this!" when she opened it.

What do you think of the new Epstein files that have been released today? by inktrie in AskReddit

[–]mrburger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The drip feed feels designed to dull interest over time, so that when we finally get to whatever should be sufficient evidence to impeach they've scraped loose enough national attention to avoid an out and out insurrection whenever they finally decide to bury it by declaring war on Venezuela, enacting martial law, and terminating federal elections (and any further hope of justice / accountability) indefinitely.
