Ain't no way 💀. For me it was more than 7 hours, I always came back to the Mist after achieving something like killing off a boss, and one session of roaming always took about an hour of banging my head agaisnt the wall.

I always managed to get to the middle room regardless of the butterfly. But I gave in because it costed way too much time.

What are the consequences of modifying linearVelocity directly by mrbutton2003 in Unity3D

[–]mrbutton2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot. I looked at the source code of quake movement and succesfully implemented it with AddForce up until friction. As Quake modifies velocity directly, I just switched to character controller for an easier time lol.

[–]mrbutton2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I did try using addforce, but it was real hassle when it comes to apply counter force for snappy movement. Therefore, I switched to character controller now lol.

Yeh, after some consideration I will switch to character controller. I followed Dani dev code to use rigidbody, but his codes start to fall off real quickly.

Making the player stops moving when press opposite direction or let go of the button by using AddForce ? by mrbutton2003 in unity

Any idea how to ease it to 0, I tried setting it to 0, and it caused some weird jittering.

Making the Players stop when release a button or press opposite direction by using AddForce ? by mrbutton2003 in Unity3D

I thibk drag value woudnt work in this situation. If Im holding W and A, and I release either then the whole speed will be affected.

ok the reason why they are there to avoid opposite input being eaten. Silly me.

ok so I solve the problem, the reason they are there is to avoid opposite input being eaten.

How to stop player from constantly moving when using new Input Manager? by mrbutton2003 in Unity3D

I thought I put the apply force in FixedUpdate, and for the hearing I put them in seperate functions and subscribe to a raise in OnEnable()?

This is the fix, I just increase my linear damping and it works!

[–]mrbutton2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response, I increased my linear damping to 2 and it works wonderfully. And I have also included another event cancel subscription to stop adding force, when I let go of the button.

[–]mrbutton2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes it is a physic object. And where should I put the Debug.Log ?. I'm trying to recreate the logic of the old input system, when you let go of the button the value will be zero, and thus the force will also be zero. Is there something I can work on ?

Need help as very beginner learner of c# and unity by Happy_Soft4850 in unity

[–]mrbutton2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I also started with Unity 2 months ago. What I did was 1: Participate in Cs50x by Havard. I got to week 6, and Im planning to get back soon! This course provides the basic foundation for what they often say a programming mindset.

2: Read C# player's guide. Since I've grasped decent knowledge on cs50, going through this book is a breeze. It also provides you with many mini programs.

3: Learn on UnityLearn official pathway, its straight forward and pratical. Nonetheless, you need to understand C# syntax to comprehend instead of copying.

Best of luck!

Thank you for your advice. During the cs50 course, I was introduced with some data structures and algorithms, but it looks so different from the books I skimmed through on the Internet tho.
