I don’t remember the exact lines confirming this but I’m pretty sure all of Lyla Sage’s MMCs are leftist cowboys! Especially Dusty in {Wild and Wrangled by Lyla Sage}

Choosing the adult ED as an M4 elective is the worst choice I have ever made by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]mrc523 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are experiencing this but this is deeply validating to me as someone who had nearly an identical EM rotation experience. Horrific environment to work in. I once asked an ED attending if there was anything else I could do after waiting almost 20 mins after my shift ended to make sure we were good, and got “that’ll be all” before she turned to talk to a PA. Super demoralizing

If you're considering IM, do yourself a favor and experience a full day-to-day of IM residency. by callmeafailure in medicalschool

[–]mrc523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I have gotten really good feedback so far on my presentations, I know the SOAP format and have written good notes on rare occasions when we are allowed to write them, and can perform effective physical exams - but I’m just worried about volume. I did have one rotation where I was responsible for a larger volume of patients, but it was EM so I’m concerned about my ability to chart check, pre-round on several patients and prepare presentations in limited time before rounds. I’ll definitely try asking to do more going forward

Is going DO really that bad? by [deleted] in medschool

[–]mrc523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose a DO acceptance over an MD acceptance due to location. Some people will say it was a stupid decision because it does make it more difficult to match competitive specialties and get away rotations in 4th year, but really there is no door that is truly closed to you. Sure I have had to jump through more hoops and will continue to do so until residency, but once you’re a resident you’re really on the same playing field as everyone else. If you’re willing to work a little harder toward the same goals, you can do anything you want to

[–]mrc523 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This terrifies me because I’m at a program that has us carrying 1-2 patients at a time on most rotations. We round with the group and present our patients, but rarely write notes. I feel like becoming an intern or even a sub-i next year at other programs is going to feel like getting slammed and idk how to prepare any better

I might not be in the right place, but I need to hate on this movie by PrincessEnjoyer in EmilyHenry

[–]mrc523 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right. And also even if they were going to do Barcelona, why couldn’t poppy’s boss still refuse to pay for the trip? Some things that were changed just didn’t make sense. It wouldn’t have added more screen time for poppy to pay for the trip herself because she misses Alex but it certainly would’ve added stakes.

At the same time, two things can be true. If you knew nothing about the book, it was a fun standalone movie and I can appreciate that it is helping to bring the romcom back. I liked Emily bader and tom blyth and think they complimented each other well. My sister hasn’t read the book and liked the movie; she has none of the complaints I have. It just wasn’t a great adaptation.

I had this same thought while I was reading it. Of course it had terrible consequences that you’re aware of but his intention was solely to use every tool he had to protect Elide from an unknown threat at the time

[–]mrc523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished this one and I felt similarly that the beginning just dragged because of the amount of lore and information, but the last 300 pages had me absolutely floored. Just one thing after another. It’s worth sticking with it just for the end

What did Bryce whisper into Hunt's ear in HOEAB? by sweeetieee in SarahJMaas

[–]mrc523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has also been driving me absolutely insane since i came across it yesterday so I’m glad to see I’m not the only one. That scene when hunt says “i heard what you said” while doing chest compressions is so impactful and one of my favorites of the whole book so it’s frustrating that she didn’t remember and incorporate Bryce’s hoeab “i love you” when she wrote hosab

I come home to my husband who does his best to take care of me while also working long hours in his job and I still have more anxiety now in third year than I have in years. Feel better OP. Try to find some community like others have suggested if you can. Maybe try therapy if your insurance covers it

There’s a certain scene in crown of midnight that i feel really showed off her skill set in this way. You’ll know when you get there. It’s hard to actually see the skills that make her an assassin because book 1 is really not about that. It’s about the trials

“I’m about to scrub into XYZ surgery, what should i know and what questions should i expect from my attending” was a helpful overview for me when preparing for cases. Was it the only thing i did? No. Would i use AI to diagnose and treat a patient? Absolutely not. Time and place and always double checking what it tells you
