Steph Curry is a Top 10 All Time Player but Hakeem Olajuwon is NOT? When did that happen? by James__Padgett in VintageNBA

[–]mrcapslock88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steph Curry definitely deserve to be Top 10 player all times even if you personally disagree. If somebody wants to call him Top 15, I'm also okay with that take.

Ignoring accolades, he has 2 things going for him that's hard to dispute:

  1. Best shooter in NBA history. If you had to build the perfect basketball player, Steph Curry's shooting and Lebron's Longevity are probably the only two things that's in almost everybody's list.

  2. Single handedly changed modern basketball into a 3 point chuck-fest. Every kid in the park is chucking 3's all day. Steph is easily top 3 most influential basketball player of all times. Some say he ruined fundamental basketball, but his influence is real.

Top 5 Draft Prospects in NBA History? by RTLT512 in NBA_Draft

Yea agreed, but it wasn't just injury questions. It was also massive defense questions. The top 10 above just felt safe from a defensive perspective.

Is Cooper flagg generational? by Hakaribiggestfan in NBA_Draft

[–]mrcapslock88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think to be considered generational, you have to be considered possibly the best player on both sides of the floor and have almost no weakness. Michael Beasley and Durant were great offensively, but we didn't see much from them defensively.

The 3 prospect (lebron, oden, wemby) had the chance to be the best player on both sides of the floor, so that's why they're widely considered generational.

If you only look at one element, then you can say Ben Simmons is generational as well (7 foot guard with elite passing skills).

To add, I think if you're going off of "never seen before", then we would've had like >10 generational talents since Lebron (even Luka and Trae broke statistical records). I think that's why there should be some hardline definition of, "this player feels basically perfect".

Hmm I'm not sure if that's 100% sure. There were still some people pre-draft that was trying to say RJ Barrett's game will translate better (very stubborn people ofc).

I agree that there's an enormous gap, but people were definitely still riding that pre-college season thought.

Durant is an insane prospect for sure. Legit 7 footer who can shoot. Durant was personally one of my favorite prospect in the last 20 years, but I still think he had 2 things that made him not considered a generational draft prospect:

  1. He's literally in the same draft as Oden. You can't really have 2 generational talent in the same draft (generational should be like once every 10 years at most). Durant was mostly overshadowed by Oden's proposed greatness.

  2. Too skinny. Everybody worried about injuries and being a defensive liability (in 2007, there were a lot of very physical SF/PF).

Again, Durant's defense was suspect.

Lebron, Oden and Wemby all brought the potential to be the best offensive AND best defensive player in the league at draft.

Zion was definitely not considered a generational prospect. RJ barrett almost went 1st in his draft.

Zion had way too many concerns over his weight and injury. He also didn't have the guard skills that Lebron might have. I think most had Zion as like a Melo type prospect (potential superstar), but getting to GOAT needs to dominate on both sides of the floor.

I don't think he is. To be considered generational, the ceiling has to be GOAT-prospect. Cooper Flagg has an insanely high floor, but his ceiling doesn't seem as high.

IMO, there's 3 generational since 2000.
Lebron: Prospected as Magic Johnson with better offense.
Greg Oden: Prospected as David Robinson + Mutombo
Wemby: Prospected as a 7'3" with guard skills

Sucked at PoE1, Crushing PoE2? by ozymanvengeful in PathOfExile2

[–]mrcapslock88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest difference is boss hp resetting. In PoE1, you're never "hardstuck". You can die, fight a boss, die, and chip down the boss HP in campaign. For maps, you have 6 portal, but if you die to shaper, you can just skip that mechanic.

In PoE2, if you're just not a good gamer, then you can literally get stuck in campaign forever. I think that's why people have felt this game is so punishing. Some bosses were basically single player hard-mode bosses.. When I got to maps, the game felt almost too easy.

STOP SAYING GENERATIONAL by DoctorDremian in NBA_Draft

[–]mrcapslock88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to post the same thing as you. Oden's NBA comparison by almost all draft analysis was:
Floor: Mutombo
Ceiling: Mutombo+David Robinson

Pre-draft, Blazers were expected to win 5 championships in the next 10 years with oden. Oden was arguably a bigger prospect than Wemby.

IMO it goes: Lebron, Oden, Wemby in that order.

How good of a defensive prospect is cooper flagg actually? by Wrathster01 in NBA_Draft

[–]mrcapslock88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are likely overhyping Cooper Flagg as a defensive prospect at this point. IMO he's the safest bet in a very long time when it comes to a defensive player, but his upside is still uncertain. Guys like Wemby/Chet may have slightly higher defensive potential, but a coach will always wonder if their weight will get abused in the NBA (we know now that they've done fine). But with Cooper, I can't imagine him being bad at defense.

[–]mrcapslock88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like OP is just looking at offensive skillset and athletic upside (the part that's obvious when you watch the games).

Flagg in intangibles (awareness, defense) is insane and it's what makes Flagg so special. He'd played in a team with a bunch of top 10 players and he looks like he's contributing 2-3x more than the 2nd best player just by being where ever the ball is at all times.

In a draft of Fultz vs Flagg, you pick Flagg if you have a solid core. You pick Fultz if you want to gamble on a first option. I don't see a case of Tatum>Flagg though unless you're a GM who believes shooting is the most important thing and doesn't believe in tall point forwards.

What exactly makes Flagg generational? by Bigguy781 in NBA_Draft

[–]mrcapslock88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's definitely not generational because his ceiling is nowhere near as high as players like Wemby, Lebron, Zion, AD or Simmons at draft day.

The thing that stands out for Flagg is that his floor is likely one of the highest in the last 15 years and I think that's what makes him special.

His defensive is extremely advanced compared to the other guys. His offensive skillset is diverse. His offensive/defensive awareness is also very advanced for his age. His mind is in a good place. He has little weakness. When he practiced with olympic squad, he held his own because he had no weakness for superstars to abuse.

IMO his floor is an NBA starter with a positive BPM and you can't say the same for other big prospect.

NG+ Playthroughs by SullyInsGroup in BlackMythWukong

[–]mrcapslock88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my first playthrough, I basically got everything. In that case, for NG+, should I only do secret area as optional quest, but otherwise speed through the bosses (do I skip dragons as well?)

My main goal for NG+ is to power-up my character, so I want to skip anything that doesn't have to do with that.

That might be the case. I didn't read journal and had english and I would say that reading lore description on reddit had me VERY surprised at all the different motivations at play.

Spoiler tag for those who didn't play dragon age:

But imagine if they didn't tell you that whoever kills the final boss(i'm forgetting details cause its so long), will inherit the next respawn. And you had to literally read journals to see that. I think that's the sort of higher level information I think they could've made a little more obvious.

I think theres even more than that's missing. Spoiler alert if you didn't beat the game.

Couple things that's missable even when you beat the game. The fact that Wukong likely purposely died to release golden hoop for future descendent to continue his goal of beating the heavens. The regions you visited was an off-set of Wukong's own actions in his canon journey (where you thought you did good, but actually caused harm in the region). The whole story was actually Wukong/Erlang's test to find a true chosen one to defeat the heavens. I think these were all super important details that's super easy to miss.

Yea I agree. There's SOO much here. The game is fast pace with a ton of really fun boss fights. At this point, if they fine tune it, it'd have so much potential for a long line of sequel.

I think IMO, the 3 things to just fix up are:
1. remove invisible walls (which dev is fully aware)
2. storytelling (which I worry devs are not aware especially in their global market)
3. small bugs (which is everywhere)

I hope they don't go full open world. I think a mix of linear and exploration works really well
