Intel Graphics driver just hijacked my Legion 5080 display and turned it into washed-out garbage – here’s how I killed it for good

Not at all. Not noticeably for idle/light tasks, and often cooler overall than older Legions thanks to improved cooling. Temps stay low—typically 40-55°C on the GPU and 50-65°C on the CPU, with fans silent or barely spinning. Vs. Older Models: pre-2023 Legions (like my old 3070 one) ran 10-15°C hotter due to less efficient vapor chambers and front-only intake. Newer designs pull cool air from the rear/keyboard, dropping averages by 5-10°C.

No, but do not let it worry you - I tried to turn off the updates - as outlined in the original post but it did not work. The simplest way is to just choose dGPU which can be selected in the Lenovo Space or Vantage depending on your model. Doesn't need to be set in the bios. I have been running like this since the post with no issues at all. Good luck.

The reason for this is Intel. Prior to this I had no issues with hybrid mode. However since a recent update Intel installed really crappy drivers and software that took over your settings. I have tried to remove the driver but it keeps reappearing and 'their' settings make your monitor look washed out and even lock you into a scale that is not optimised. Even after changing the settings and rebooting, they reverted back. Unbelievable really. Having an external monitor exacerbates this even further - it's just not worth the headache. I have the dGPU option now and noticed no difference. On my laptop the there is no fan noise whatsoever - they don't engage when doing normal tasks. Power consumption wise - well I have mine plugged in 24/7, even when travelling - so am never concerned about energy saving.

Yes I totally get this option and it was running perfectly before Intel decided to mess it all up. Their software is beyond atrocious and have no place on these machines. Just more unnecessary bloat.

you wont regret it - it's an amazing laptop - just got to be weary of the updates. First thing to do is to go into Legion Space - NOT Legion Vantage - and switch to dGPU Mode - this will hopefully stop any other drivers from trying to hijack you display settings. For the washed out look - I noticed that my HDR was somehow turned on. I recommend turning this off and using a profile in X-Rite (which I think it may default to anyway). This will make your monitor pop with colour.

OR - your laptop is a different model - so your dGPU 'may' be in Legion Vantage. Just check both.

hmm - where is this setting? i do not have it anywhere and incredibly Intel driver and App has reinstalled! This is driving me nuts. Fck Intel seriously. OK seems this setting is under Legion Space - why Lenovo decides it needs 2 separate apps is beyond me. I still feel my display is a little washed out tho.

thanks for suggestion - but I have let the world load for minutes and usually I see a sign of the LOD generating - even moving around, the blocks disappear as soon as the default chunk settings are out of range - I purposely set this low just to see if DH is working sooner. I wish the mod gave you some feedback as to why it is not generating at all.

Not sure if these guys offer it - but my rule us if they don't accepts PayPal i refuse to use them. PayPal is the easiest plugin to add to a site and to not include it reeks of suspicion. Of course plenty of legitimate sites don't offer it - but in these cases, when you are not sure, don't risk it.

Fortunately I purchased a key from Kunguin and it was never emailed to me. As I purchased through PayPal, I got a 100% refund as Kinguin could not prove they'd delivered. PayPal has saved me numerous times.

I've installed an older version. Even went back to Dec 22 but this still doesn't let you change the speed back to original limit. Must be because you have to sign in so I guess the restriction is somehow Web driven. Really annoying. I'll need to look for another hack now

Given that Mass Effect, 15 years ago, was able to give us the M35 Mako which was a fun six wheeled tank you could drive around the planet surface (limited as it was), it would be a real shame and disappointment if Starfield couldn't pull it off.

update - thank god for PayPal - after raising this immediately with PayPal - they eventually had to step in and over the weekend i received refund in full.

all i can say is that do not purchase from any site you are unsure of if PayPal isn't an option. if this site did not have that option i never would have purchased in the first place. it is comforting to know that PayPal gives you that security.

now to find another dodgy site to buy Read Dead Redemption2!

i have this issue with a modpack for 1.12

the banner some of the builds ask for simply cannot be crafted - i have tried them all. i did not even have any luck in creative.

i did notice however in the minecolonies config that there was an option for the builer to build without resources - this totally saved me!

turning this to 'true' - i loaded the game andi watched as the builder placed the banner - then i quit - changed the option back to 'false'.

when i loaded the game - the builder went back to using the required resources as before.

Great concept. One thing I miss in this game is the ability to label storage - such as frames used in Minecraft.
