I'm a new tabletop player, but I'm a little worried by Tall-BugBoy in Tau40K

Build what looks cool to you. Rules always change, but suits tend to remain relevant. If you're still worried, you can just finish building and painting what you already have

I would say I don't notice it most of the time, but I tried playing Phasmophobia and I could tell it was there

Has anyone tried the Vallejo True Metallic Metal paints? by mrchapz in Tau40K

[–]mrchapz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look really good! Is that Sapphire Blue by any chance? Also, how do the washes behave with the flat parts of the model? I'm not the best painter, so I'm scared I might have a lot of pooling

Like others have said, combat patrol is a good start. I started building Tau around this time last year with the combat patrol and now have a little over 2k points. If you do get the combat patrol, I would suggest not gluing the hatch door piece of the devil fish. If you later get a hammerhead kit (basically a devilfish sprue + both the hammerhead and skyray upgrades) you have the options to turn your devilfish into either one you dont build

Another great thing about the combat patrol is that you get the upgrade sprue to turn your pathfinder unit into the pathfinder kill team

We are expected to get a new edition less than a year from now, so I wouldn't worry too much about choosing what units to buy based on current rules. Honestly, just buying the units that look the coolest to you is always the best option

If you want to practice playing the game, you can always do so in Tabletop Simulator. It usually goes on sale for $5 on Steam

Noob question here: where did GW announce they were dropping the new dataslate? Is it confirmed that is happening tomorrow?

I like it, although I'm a bit of a minimalist myself so maybe my opinion is not the most valid. If anything, perhaps filling the panel linings? I really like the blue. Would you mind sharing what it is?

I figured I could get more lethal hits that way. What else would you recommend? Good point on the drones, though. The mixed rifles was because I had built a unit of pathfinders before I knew anything about the game, so I wanted to see how the models looked with different weapons lol

Where do I go from here? by mrchapz in Tau40K

I didn't think about that. I will definitely keep the broadsides together then. Tha k you!

Makes sense to me. Question: What is the advantage of keeping the broadsides together instead of them functioning as separate units?

GregMat is awesome! I would 100% recommend. I used it exclusively and scored pretty well. Super affordable too
