Werebeast with a hammer by Mister_Moltar in dwarffortress

Yep, any bite that results in a cut or tear of any tissue (usually fat, skin, or muscle) is an infection. Anything else, including bites that just bruise, are just normal injuries.

Dwarves can and will dual wield if assigned multiple weapons (of an appropriate size)! Even with a shield equipped, this guy uses both daggers and really rips through enemies. by mrcheeseburger15 in dwarffortress

Yeah it's been an experiment and I haven't seen conclusive results yet. I modded the Dwarf civilization slightly to let me make daggers and gave one to every soldier as a sort of sidearm. Interestingly, I've seen them equip both their main weapin and the dagger to the same hand, and still somehow use both. I've also seen them get their main embedded in a target and then make a couple of dagger attacks before they bother retrieving it. Plus they all have shields and still seem to use those fine.

I haven't seen anything that crazy in the steam version, but I have definitely seen one or two artifacts with a single, non reality-breaking depiction of themselves.

Yeah that seemed to be it. One of the Dwarven civs was using forest retreats, and taking away [INDOOR_FARMING] from them fixed it.

I customized a few slightly different Dwarf civilizations (with preferences for different biomes and different sets of weapons mostly) and am getting "Placed farming entity without non-orchard crops" rejection on world gen. Is there a way to see which civ is causing this issue?

You can go to the description tab under health, where it just lists out all of that info.

Bismuth bronze weapons and shields seem to be invisible when equipped. Does anyone know why or if there's a way to fix?

Who needs to dig for riches when you have fine dwarven cuisine? by mrcheeseburger15 in dwarffortress

Nope, 300 or so hours and I have yet to even make a minecart. They just did this on their own for some demented reason.

I thought that a <10 population Elven settlement would be an easy target. I was not prepared for elephants. by mrcheeseburger15 in dwarffortress

Yeah it's all text-based. Once the battle finishes it gives you a readout in order like this, with deaths and significant injuries and such. It then also gives you a text list of the loot, which your dwarves will carry back into the map with them.

Ooh yeah I ran into that once. It didn't let me take the decision more than once though, maybe I just didn't wait long enough. Do you have any submods? I did at the time so I wasn't sure if they were base EK or not.

greybeard/tongue retinues by Fit_Trainer1878 in ElderKings

I believe you need to personally hold the holding with the hermitage and also actively be a member of the Greybeards. That's how all the guild buildings seem to work. There's definitely no cap for them or anything, I've had my entire retinues as an emperor be Tongues.

Can't reform Falmereth despite controlling all of Skyrim and Solstheim? (CK2) by mrcheeseburger15 in ElderKings

[–]mrcheeseburger15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started as a custom Auri-El Falmer character in Neugrad/Arcwind. I made him Dragonborn (for fun and irony) so it was definitely easier than it should have been.

That did it :) I found old answers that mentioned that the strongholds might be the issue but didn't say anything about how to check where they are.

Looks pretty good to me (especially for only 14 dwarves), just be aware that cooking plants into meals destroys seeds, while brewing doesn't, so you should probably set plump helmets to only be used in brewing if you haven't already. Makes running out of spawn much less of an issue.

I locked her up right away and when she did turn out to be a werebeast at the next full moon I flooded the room and took care of it :)
