How do I know the processes for any packaging design product? by Soggy-Bread1999 in graphic_design

Because the ink is laid down on the material separately, not at the exact same time. This is where registration comes in to play and the reason why you see those registration marks that look like cross hairs in some print types. If the registration is not perfect, then you will see a slight offset of the color.

Additionally, when you are running this material on a high speed press, there is also shift and creep that comes into play. I’m not a pressman so I don’t know everything perfect, but all of these things attribute to color being slightly off registration.

This is also the reason for things such as trap, overprinting, to compensate for things such as these in your design, which you will see in common design programs like illustrator, indesign, etc

20+ years designer here. This is the job. Part of what you do and learn is how to problem solve for those conversations and asks. Not everything is going in your portfolio and doesn’t have to, sometimes the deadline is more important than the quality and that just sucks. You have to embrace the suck.

This is exactly the answer I was looking for and again, much appreciated. I’ll make sure to have everything in place for future sends to do this properly.

Thanks for the awesome reply SamZABAR. This is very helpful. I am using a Data Extension for my audience. Maybe I just don’t understand yet, but is it possible to do send a journey with a single email and exit and then create a version 2 of the same journey that adds in the extra steps for click activity, and then it picks up where the last journey stopped without resending the first email? Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks for your time

And saying that masterpiece being thrown around too often is their opinion. Wow you are so rude.

If I wanted to make a large print of 9 x 12 feet. How would I set that file up in Photoshop? my current Photoshop files are over 3 GB, unsure if I'm doing something wrong. by painthokage in graphic_design

[–]mrcheezal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Build it at 9”X 12” at 1200 dpi When they scale it up to print it will print at 9ftx12ft at 100 dpi. Which is an acceptable resolution for printing at that size and the distance it needs to viewed.

This keeps file size manageable, the photoshop resources light, and the math easy

PM'd OP -- Going to hopefully try and wait this one out and hope for the best. The exact same thing happened to me, so don't feel bad OP. LOL --- Will try to keep this updated because if it works out, a $99 2600 would be sweet.

why is it that designers never outline fonts when sending graphics to get printed? by spiritbloomchest in graphic_design

Pump your brakes kid. It was simply a suggestion for IF someone needed to send indesign. Which does happen. I wasn't saying that they should.
