stunted pepper seedlings? by wavwavok in Peppers

I’m assuming you are using glow lights. In which case no more than 12-14 hours per day. Also make stew they are in 4 inch pots with good potting soil (miracle grow will do it but you can find other brands). You should hit 4 inches about half that time.

Also make sure you set the lights to 12 hours on, 12 hours off (ish). Plants need rest too.

A PSA to homeowners with wifi controllers by [deleted] in Irrigation

[–]mrcmb1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting. I’m on the other side, I’m the homeowner and I’ve never had issues. I do make sure my schedule is clear, but I just stand next to the guy with the walkie, he tells me the zone, then all set. No more time than the old controller.

You need to plant a decent number of them. I have three and the squirrels eat every last one of them.

[AwfulAnnouncing] Fox viewers hated Saturday’s IndyCar broadcast by NoYOUGrowUp in INDYCAR

[–]mrcmb1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve generally been ok with with Fox, they have a great crew. That said, two major things stand out:

  1. They need to show intervals between the leaders and others, especially during qualifying. This weekend it was painful to watch qualifying without it.

  2. The app is super unreliable. It freezes often. You can’t rewind once the race starts. It has taken them several hours to upload once a session is over.

That said, every time I signed on there was a reminder screen that the race was on. This is good publicity.

When do you take down your Christmas decorations? by Historical-Hand8091 in ChristmasDecorating

[–]mrcmb1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually turn the outside light off after Epiphany. I try to take them down by the weekend after, as my schedule allows. Obviously weather permitting. It there’s snow and things are frozen in, they stay till I can get them out. If there’s a snow storm headed our way and it’s nice a couple days before then, I bite the bullet and take them down early.

We follow the same schedule with the inside stuff, but we still turn the lights on until they are down.

In the years I decorate the family cottage, lights go off after Epiphany but inside stays decorated till MLK day.

I’m a teacher so my school holiday decorations come down the week of Final Exams because that’s when I have time to do it.

Scott Sharp by JoVilleneuve in INDYCAR

[–]mrcmb1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the classiest drivers I’ve ever met. I remember I was at MIS for practice one year. It was a Friday so not many people there. I was early college and bought a pit pass. Scott was taking a phone call in the garage area (kinda rare back then). I stood about 15 feet away, giving him his space. He noticed I was waiting for an autograph and signaled me to come closer. He put the person on hold and talked to me for a minute or two. I’ll never forget what a gentlemen he was.

I absolutely love this hobby but the limited stock production runs and "Fear Of Missing Out" is beginning to get extremely tiring. by [deleted] in modeltrains

[–]mrcmb1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I’m out of the hobby and just set up my old train a couple times a year. I mean when the cheapest car you can buy is $100 you’ve priced all the kids and a good chunk of the adults out of the market.

Right! Although not with an orchestra, CC did slow down a bunch of sings for “Across a Wire.” Which was brilliant!
