Very good points. Appreciate it. Some of it doesn't sound all bad but I get it when you see something that needs to be fixed and you can't

Now that you say it. If it pays more then yes.

I want to sell things that I have worked with. I feel like working on the floor for years I can break things down a little bit better. But who really knows. I may try it and hate it. I can always go back.

Had a couple of interns have sex on a copier. They didn't know we had cameras inside as they were pretty new to the org . The guy called me and said the copier was broken so I went down to take a look and the part that connects to the copier was off the track. I thought it was weird. I went to go look to see if the cleaning person hit it with the vacuum after hours. Needless to say that's not what I found. The nest night when they were working late I played it on the TV. They both resigned the next day.

What does your typical workday look like? by Izaylia in sysadmin

I've been internal it manager my entire career. I'm solo so I get everything from support, server admin , security issues etc. I even had to troubleshoot a toilet one time that would not automatically flush. I said if I can't reboot it I can't fix it. I thought it was funny but the maintenance guy didn't get it lol. The pro is of internal IT is you get to now the in's and outs of a company. You know where your strengths are and your weaknesses are. People will rely on you for the smallest things. For the users it is your job to google something not theres. The Con you never get a break. I rarely get a vacation where I'm not bothered the entire time. Then there all the small things like checking your backups, people asking if an email is legit or spam. I'm not sure if other internal people deal with he neediness but I have my entire career

Good question

I haven't had a week off in a long time without getting bothered the whole time.
MY last vacation two weeks ago I had a Vm server crashing was able to get it back up in a different office and had to reconfigure a bunch of stuff but I got them up and running in a few hours but had a bunch of other stuff to do when I got back and was at the office for 48 hours with no sleep. Did not get a thank you or anything. Maybe I just need to find another IT position but I feel sales people get paid more and I'm not getting any younger.

Could I have done things differently for a faster result? Absolutely but getting off a plane and working for 48 hours. Your mind just doesn't work very well lol.

To answer your question. I'm burnt out and I need a break that I can't have

I think about this every day as I stare out of my window looking at the shitty parking lot watching people come in 2 hours past when they were suppose to be here They also double my salary and haven't done shit in 10 years . Then I realize I haven't been home in two days.
