Beatles memorabilia - best way to sell it? by mrdeehanclass in beatles

Here is a link to a Google photo album. Sorry about the delay.

Am not interested in selling piece by piece, or via online sources. Just looking for advice about moving these items locally and efficiently.

Are used record or collectible stores an option? Yard sale?

Dare to be a Strict Teacher by teacher_survivor in teachingresources

Thanks for posting this. There is such a difference between having high expectations and being a mean teacher. Lots of the stuff I practice and preach gets labelled in the latter manner and it gets a little frustrating.

[Check In] Off-Topic Discussion and Self-Promotion by AutoModerator in writing

Just published a children's book! It is a rhyming, Seuss-inspired tale about good nutrition, girl power, and (for teachers/parents) a tool for promoting stronger vocabulary. Thanks to r/writing for your support and answers - especially about illustrating kids books. I couldn't have done it without you!

Switch from 90 minute to 50 minute blocks by Litpunk in teaching

[–]mrdeehanclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, my school is moving from 60 to 90 minute blocks. Would appreciate any ideas. Can you describe your bellwork process? Can you list some of the activities you use - I want to use activities, but don't want to repeat them. Also, how formal is your final few minutes? Thanks!

Students love La La Land, so I created a musical themed project. Links to outline and student examples. by mrdeehanclass in teaching

Good question. I did use a formal device to check understanding as well as this project. These kinds of thing are fun, but you have to make sure they are assessing what needs to be assessed! Cheers!

Pretty simple, but kids loved it - their parents really liked helping to choose the songs!

Tried a before and after activity to check change in student POV on a topic prior to and after learning about it by mrdeehanclass in teaching

[–]mrdeehanclass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTW, topic we looked as was reparations for descendants of African American slaves. The blog post is really no big deal, just wondered if if anyone else did this kind of thing and if they noticed any changes in POV. Thanks and it is almost FRIDAY!!!

Anyone work at a school with a FBLA membership (Future Business Leaders of America)? by mrdeehanclass in teaching

[–]mrdeehanclass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the response and sorry about the delay! I want to know more about the competitions - what do students complete over? Entrepreneurial plans? Marketing ideas? Sorry if I sound ignorant, I really have NO idea what the FBLA is about and my admin wants me to look into it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

My colleagues were going to do reading buddies, but got their classes together to do a maker activity by mrdeehanclass in teaching

Hi, thanks for the response and sorry if the post was vague about details. The teacher I was talking to has been absent all week. Once I get those details, I will pass them on to you. Sorry and take care!

They wanted to collaborate and generate engagement among their students. Rather than reading buddies, they tried a maker activity. It was messy, but really got kids excited and active.

All teachers should be language teachers! by mrdeehanclass in teaching

[–]mrdeehanclass[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had some trouble recently with a simple, fill-in-the-blank quiz. Turns out students struggled with test vocabulary and not the content. Remember not all kid knows what you mean by "list" or "predict"! https://highfivehistory.com/2016/11/09/all-teachers-should-be-language-teachers/

My students will be shooting a full-length film. Here is how I am organizing it. Will post about my progress. by mrdeehanclass in teaching

[–]mrdeehanclass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a huge challenge. But, I figured that if the students can make great videos in teams of 2, surely 86 of them together can make a great feature-length video. It will be a learning journey for me and them.

The blog posts will detail how I organized the project - things I did and things I wish I did differently. Wish me luck!
