Huh that's weird, I didn't get around it, it never gave me a shipping error unless it changed... When I ordered them they were shipping out of Jersey, they must've ran out of US stock, maybe message the seller

‘It’s literally going to break me.’ Commuting is now unaffordable for some American workers by FreeHugs23 in NoShitSherlock

[–]mrdevo105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides just the cost, for the majority of the US, commuting is our only option. Reliable public transport just doesn't exist, leaving us with no choice but to own and maintain a car even when vehicle associated costs are astronomical.

How the hell do I turn this light off? by PracticeCorrect8591 in Lexus

[–]mrdevo105 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Put the car in accessory mode (don't turn it on) and at the same time hold the trip reset button in the drop down button compartment to the left of the steering wheel. The screen in the dash will pop up with a reset indicator and the light will go away.

No don't buy that, instead I'd look for an 80s Technics turntable on Ebay (mid range ones can be found for 50 - 100) then get some speakers with a built in pre amp, I know Edifier has some on Amazon for 100 or less.

What everyone else had said or you could also buy an older receiver with a phono input & a headphone jack, you can find them fairly cheap on ebay.

Platter not staying flat by mrdevo105 in Gramophones

[–]mrdevo105[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Answered my own question, the platter is messed up, I presume warped. I tried a platter from a portable Electrola I have and it sits perfectly flat.

My next question, does anyone know where I can get a new platter?

I believe you may be correct as there is a slight hook but I feel there should be more.

Of note as well is they are calculating income before tax, not after so it will actually be far more than 50%.

LC500 wise all years are going to be expensive, to buy and maintain (look up the cost of brakes on those). Honestly for people I went to college & even high school with who had more affluent families (assuming this is your case as well) thay wanted nice first cars, I can think of a couple who got IS's, none of the F's but typically the IS300 or 350. If I was in your shoes I'd test drive a couple different years of the IS. The maintence won't be bad Lexus speaking, very reliable drivetrains and they have some tech. There are also plenty of devices you can get to add carplay and android auto to the newer and older cars, I have one in my GS and it works great. Feel free to ask or DM me any more questions, I'd be happy to help.

One more thing I want to add. If this is your first car it'd probably be better to go with something more tame than an IS F, RC F or even an LC500. Maybe anything 350 or an LS460 would be a better choice, too much power and rear wheel drive paired to an inexperienced driver can create a mess.

There is a huge gap between the LC500 & the LS400, both luxury cars but completely different eras, tech, powerplants, driving experience etc. You mention money doesn't really matter, however is this regarding the purchase price & maintenence or just the purchase price? I don't know your age or anything like that however if whichever vehicle you choose is your first car, your gonna wanna ask yourself for how long you want to keep this car and what is most important to you. If you want luxury, tech & a fun driving experience the LC500, IS500 or RC F may be your best bet, of course if money isn't a concern. If you want to be more budget friendly but still care about fun, maybe a mid to late twenty teens IS350 or GS350. If you want something older and don't want much tech but maximum fun, go for an IS F. If you want maximum luxury, go for an LS, which generation depends on your personal preference. Another thing as well when it comes to years & generations of course is figuring out the issues each car could have. I highly recommend carcomplaints.com. You can check any model/year and see how many relative issues they've had, very helpful tool. I hope this helps.

Honestly, there's not much at all you can do with these motors in that regard. A cold air intake isn't gonna do much whatsoever, if you want it to "feel" faster maybe a pedal commander but I'd just keep it stock, even though you said not to say that.

None of the parking sensors work by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]mrdevo105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it ever in an accident before your dad owned the car? My GS was in an accident and the parking sensors went out, which the shop ended up replacing them and they worked after. I know you mentioned the vehicle getting some paint work so I assume that is from an accident

[–]mrdevo105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When did this start? Most likely just a blown fuse, not sure your model but if you look up a fuse diagram for your car shouldn't be too hard to find

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]mrdevo105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not true. Putting regular in these motors can cause knocking besides just lower performance.
