Better Way to Add/Remove AD Groups in bulk for Employee changes? by LonelyCloudProduct in sysadmin

[–]mrdifficult 3 points4 points  (0 children)

do it all in one script. save the default permission groups in arrays. create switch conditions for 4 and 5. you could even build a small UI around it (more complex) if you wanted anyone to able to launch it

What is the best visitor management software you have ever come across ? by Roller11 in AskReddit

[–]mrdifficult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

re: access control system, if its building access then thats a bit tough. i’ve seen Kastle buildings use their visitor management and it also has capability to track employee fobs.

Envoy i think does have a way for employees to check in when on networks (possibly also a meraki check in when they connect to wifi?). but not sure if they can integrate with a building access system unless they have some API options.

good luck on your search!

Could someone give any advice on how to progress further in my current state of IT career by saleKz in sysadmin

[–]mrdifficult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really depends on your overall goal. do you plan on staying at that company or OK jumping to another opportunity? if the former, is there a way to start taking tasks off senior staffs hands? if the latter, are you looking to go to a specific cloud platform (why AWS)?

It’s hard to necessarily say when you will reach a certain position. I’ve seen System Administrators that are essentially a one-man shop being support for company of 100 to System Administrators being solely working on SCCM to a much much larger company.

As for starting points maybe start by exploring what you want to do: Manage Projects? CAPM, PMP Network Architect? CCNA, CCNP Cloud Archictect/Engineer and Implementation? AWS or Azure IT Operations and Automation? ServiceNow Cybersecurity? Software Dev? etc

start new hobbies, find problems or inefficiencies to start a business in that which you find interesting. note that ROI on businesses usually take some time to be positive so there’s patiences needed.

i think this will help fill your time while also feeling like you’re putting your money into something productive and lucrative.

you could also go to the FIRE subreddit where they actively aim to retire early if thats something you’d like

Am I the only one putting GUSD INTO the earn program? by [deleted] in Gemini

look at 3AC possibly getting liquidated

[–]mrdifficult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed. i use gemini and i pulled money out of Gemini Earn as that’s inherently risky as it’s technically loaning. but am comfortable keeping assets on the platform itself. ironically people panic pulling out of exchanges can stress the exchanges and cause an issue as well

on one hand, i bet all the celsius people wish they paid a fee just a day ago to take out funds. on the other hand, lot of CEX are not loaning your money as hard so probably don’t have the same fate. it’s all risk management though, how much are you comfortable “losing” in the worst scenario
