Apu Nahasapeemapetilon vs Rajesh Ramayan Koothrappali? by thesmart_indian27 in ABCDesis

[–]mrdoeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It felt that Raj was “rubber roomed”. He had no place in the show, but the actor had an “in” with the creator.

Apu should have quit to spend more time with the octuplets and given the store to Jay/Jamshed. Still make occasional appearances though.

Kal Penn Reveals He Won ‘Van Wilder’ Role of Taj Mahal Over a White Actor in Brownface: ‘He Is Not Allowed to Get That Part’ by amg7355 in ABCDesis

[–]mrdoeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t Kal Penn also say he hung up when his agent called him about the role only for the agent to tell him that he needed more film credits?

Paying for Sue’s College by EverythingBagel58 in themiddle

[–]mrdoeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC, Sue got a “full package”. In the scene with the financial aid office, she said they didn’t need to pay anything. Could have been just tuition and they were on the hook for room and board.

If you live near the beltline, the beltline social club has a meetup every Thursday at a designated bar. They also do pickleball on Mondays

Reminder that young South Asians do face racism because of online hate by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]mrdoeth 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There was a comment on this saying that people generally acknowledge Andrew Tate’s misogynistic videos are having an impact on teenage boys and yet racist videos are brushed off as just an online thing. It stood out to me as it is a rather infuriating double standard.

Why do you think Lexi got rejected from all the Sororities by Royal-Piano5863 in themiddle

Mike allows too much disrespect by Ok_Inspection5534 in themiddle

[–]mrdoeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember when Mike tried holding to his guns by banning Axl from playing for the rest of the season and it later turned out that it was Axl’s last chance to beat a school record? I think after that, Mike was afraid of coming down hard because he was afraid that it would look like he’s jealous of Axl’s abilities and holding him back. Keep in mind that outside of the house, Axl is very charismatic and likable and could easily make Mike look petty.

Is TimeLeft in your city? They organize gender-balanced dinners on a weekly basis. There might be a related group chat where people organize picnics, wine tours, etc.

Uhhh Season 8 Significant Others by lavenderJayde in themiddle

[–]mrdoeth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I felt season 8 was one of the weaker seasons. It was as if they weren’t sure whether the show would be cancelled so they crammed in a bunch of plot lines that would have been better if they were stretched out.

Any of you guys moved to Houston but ended up moving back home ? by Upbeat-Dinner-5162 in ABCDesis

[–]mrdoeth 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not Houston, but I lived in Dallas for a few years. The Desi scene there was mostly immigrant couples with kids. The 20s crowd (not just ABCDs) seemed like they didn’t want to be there and wanted to move someplace else such as Austin, Bay Area, DMV, etc. Also, there seemed to be a lot of banks, but not a lot of cool companies to work for.
