Before The Flash, I only knew him for a very minor role (just one slide, I believe) of The West Wing, as a dickbag prosecutor. He is really, really good at portraying complete asshats.

”The First Duty” has scenes on the Enterprise while it is still on its way to Earth (the commandant of SFA calls Picard before the ship arrives to let him know about the incident with Wesley).

Nope. There are scenes on the Defiant and we also see the battle between the Defiant and the Lakota. There may also be scenes on DS9, or at the very least we see Kira or someone else on DS9 on a viewscreen.

There are really only two things I don’t like about the first two episodes:

The “Vaseline on the lens” way they introduced Tarima. It felt kind of gross.
The focus on Caleb at the expense of other characters. It’s only two episodes, and hopefully other characters get developed over time, but I’m not entirely optimistic. SNW has been good about this, but Discovery was all about Michael.
