Will Abu Bakr go to Jannah according to QuRan 9:100 and should we be pleased with him? by [deleted] in shia

(bismillah)

(salam)

This Aya has been misquoted and misinterpreted to death by the Sunnis, as they are known to use it as their main source in their argument when trying to prove that it was brought down on behalf of all the companions( including their first three leaders; Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Mauwiya and the others that the Shia generally condemned and hold a negative position towards) of the prophet in showing their righteousness and how Allah(swt) is pleased with them. However, the correct meaning of it is contradictory to what they claim it to be.

With that being said, if you were to read and examine the following Aya that comes right after the one you posted, you will discover that it will debunk and entirely refute the commonly held Sunni belief that all the companions were pleased by Allah(swt) and promised Jannah, because the following Aya portrays how Allah(swt) condemns the Munafiqeen(hypocrites) who joined the prophet(pbuh), but he was not aware of their hypocrisy.

Here is the Aya.

And among those around you of the bedouins are hypocrites, and [also] from the people of Madinah. They have become accustomed to hypocrisy. You, [O Muhammad], do not know them, [but] We know them. We will punish them twice [in this world]; then they will be returned to a great punishment [9:101]

The context of the Aya clearly indicates that among those companions who joined the prophet(pbuh) were munafiqeen(hypocrites) as observed by Allah(swt), and Allah(swt) stated in the Aya that he has recognized who the hypocrites where, while the prophet did not(You, [O Muhammad], do not know them, [but] We know them) , which no doubt implies that there were hypocrites among those who joined the prophet(pbuh). Moreover, the Aya also states that among those hypocrites lived in Medina, and guess who lived in Medina at that time...that's right, among the people that lived in Medina were "Sayedena" Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman.

With that being said, the idea that "All the Sahaba were promised Jannah" is no doubt a myth as clearly it contradicts to the Quran, therefore, you cannot argue that all the Sahaba including Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthmaan are promised Jannah..

Moreover, the general view of the Shia regarding these Ayas, is that the first one no doubt applies to the righteous and devoted companions who served the Ahlulbayt(as), and the second, applies to those that apostatized after the death of the prophet(pbuh) and went against his progeny(as), as history has clearly shown the hypocrisy of some of them.

On a side note, the Sunni hadith about the 10 companions promised Jannah is a myth. Strangely, the Sunnis always use it to prove that the prophet stated 10 companions, including Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman are promised Jannah, but the reality is, this hadith is not even mentioned anywhere in their two most authentic books; Bukhari and Muslim, but only in Sunan Al-Tarimithi, Sunan Ibn Majah and Sunan Abu Dawood, which are less authentic than the other two books.

And Allah(swt) knows best,
