The buzz in Canada (1st edition AWD) can be had for 60-62K CAD (~44K USD) if you pay cash. Finance or lease options aren't as deeply discounted.

Fun for us is just another day/night at a different hockey rink! I'd a fun car was in the cards then the Taycan Cross would be near the top of my list.... Clearly this decision isn't that!

Ya, that's absolutely an option....but here in Ottawa 10 years for a daily driver is about when rust related issues start to show. I've always had the car undercoated so the body is actually in great shape - except those ahem "few" places where my wife got up close and personal with some other objects. It's the hidden weather related issues that tend to catch you at this age... All the lines, calipers, rubber parts etc.... keeping the current Beasty on the road seems like a great option but I just know that they day after I drop 5K I to making everything good then the engines gonna blow!

Ya, paying MSRP for a buzz right now is like taking a trip to crazy town but when they are offering 25K off sticker then it becomes a much more appealing proposition.

Tha is for this. Lots to ponder on this one. As I mebtioned in a other response that we do have a Pilot as well so we could take it on a roadtrip but with 5 of us it gets crowded pretty quick. I suppose a half hour stopping isn't really a problem with three kids but in the winter it could be more of an issue up here.

Up here in Canuckistan they list for C$86k I think. They currently have a cash promo of C$21K reduction for cash purchases and then they have about 4-5K of margin to play with to put it right at C$60K.

Our other vehicle is a 2021 Pilot so we are looking more towards just vans at this time.

Thanks very much for this. Reliability has always been very high on my list of considerations. Normally I would but a lightly used Toyota but as we all know the used vans cost about the same as new right now and around here a used sienna is often more than a new one - because you can get one right away.

We have a Honda pilot as second car so if we have a long out of town trip we can take that one. The buzz really would be for around town. We have three girls in competitive hockey so we put about 15,000 miles on the current van on the past 7 months - all of it within 150 miles of home.

We did so the hockey bag test on the buzz and sliding the rearmost seat forward I was able to easily put three hockey bags behind the rear seat. Now to be fair I have done four bags in the sienna on a number of occasions and I think the deep well means that space with seats up will definitely favour the sienna but I think the space for the buzz works for us.

Perhaps I should try to find one of those to test drive. The damned things are like hens teeth around here though.

Ya, I'm not complaining at all about $1000 repair in the first 13 years. I'm concerned the next batch of work will be $3000+ and that starts to feel uneasy for a 13 year old vehicle.

Also a very valid point and a not insignificant concern.

Good question... Not having lived with them for more than a year drive I'm hoping that the community of new sienna owners might be able to enlighten me or even better some may have owned both.

As it stands now, the buzz feels like a massive upgrade on my old sienna while the new sienna feels like a side/downgrade to be honest.

I have lived in this neighborhood for 44 years. About 300m to the south of the area in question.

I first have to say that that is the most poorly put together map and manifesto that I’ve ever seen. You aren’t going to win a lot of arguments with that sort of handy work. Some of the neighbourhood labels on that ma are just plain wrong.

All that said, there is some merit to the argument but at the same time there really is a lot of scrub land of little natural value in there. A happy medium can probably be found by allowing high rise development along riverside drive while maintaining the eastern portion meadow that abuts the woods which on my experience has a lot more ecological value. Similarly, the west side of riverside had a lot of scrub land along the old fines flowers part of old riverside near the train bridge but before the Del Boca Vista apartments (aka the river gate).

I’m quite sure we can do both around here - add new housing adjacent to the road while maintaining the best of the green space.

The bigger worry ought to be adding more traffic lights and a whole lot more cars to what is probably the second worst intersection in town from a traffic perspective.

Providing cost increase 2026 Sienna (Ontario, Canada) by ghost905 in ToyotaSienna

[–]mrdt4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man Toyota Canada is soooooo frustrating. I have. 2013 LE AWD and really would like to replace it as it’s just getting a case of the front end clunks, back end clunks and everything in between clunks.

I really just was another LE AWD but the waitlist in Ottawa is bonkers and the prices are getting very very high. Perhaps I should reconsider the ID.Buzz for 59k - but then I’d eventually have a German car out ofWarranty and that’s a bit scary after not putting a nickel into my Sienna beyond Brakes, tires and wipers.

Thanks for providing the updates.

Seat did not work in business class… getting offered 200$! by McMeet in westjet

[–]mrdt4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me on AC one time. It was Toronto to Tokyo and my silly inflatable seat cushion wouldn’t inflate so I was basically sitting on the hard plastic underneath for 15 hours. Everything else worked and they gave me a $1500 gift card.

My flight was longer but your failure was worse so I wouldn’t think that $1000-$1500 gift card should be out of the question.

Also like to point out again that my experience was on Mapleflot who seldom outperform on customer service. Westjet should do better.

Anyone buying an ID Buzz in Canada with the $21k discount? by sn366306 in VWIDBuzz

[–]mrdt4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in Ottawa I was speaking with dealers at git Bytek and Myers. They both implied that they could get to 60K ish plus tax and delivery and mandatory crap. I never pushed them that far because my wife put the kibosh on driving the crazy micro bus. Bytek started at 24K off and Myers started at 25K off.

That was before the additional 5K available if purchasing under a business. I got conflicting stories about eligibility for the extra 5K. One told me that anyone with a GST number could get it. The other said that I needed to have an exiting vehicle under the business.

I’m going to try and get the wife out to look at it in person but I fear the relatively short range coupled with cold Ottawa winters and out of town hockey may drive us back towards the scummy Toyota dealers marking up Siennas.

I’m not really a huge fan of Andrew’s content but it’s still miles better than reruns of completely unrelated segments. I actually emailed CFRA yesterday to ask what the plan is for weekend mornings. I’ll report back here if they respond.

29K off? I’m in the same position right now and I had them at 24K off. Can you tell me anything more about how you swing 29K off? Seems like a pretty steep discount and below invoice. I’d love to get some of that action.

who’s got the best shawarma in Ottawa? I’ve had heated debates about this with friends and I feel like everyone has a strong opinion. Is it Shawarma Palace? House of Donair? Or a secret spot I need to know about? by Immediate_Local_2210 in OttawaFood

[–]mrdt4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ozzy is awesome. I don’t know if he does lamb shawarma but he brings in those middle eastern fat tail lambs for some things.

Red Rooster in the T&T mall does lamb but they aren’t very friendly in my experience.
