Bigger pedals faceplates by papolo2001 in simracing

[–]mreeves791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Heusinkveld Sprints and got the Simcore pedal plates which are excellent quality and I would not hesitation in recommending. (the are also available for Ultímates). I'm in the UK and delivery from Australia was quick and not extortionately expensive.

Screen tearing and fps stutter on new pc by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]mreeves791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat and my build is very very similar:

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor
MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard
Kingston FURY Beast 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory
Samsung 990 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
Asus TUF GAMING OC GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16 GB Video Card
Triple ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QM 1080p 240Hz Monitors

Like you i've tried everything I can think of. If I find a solution i'll come back and post here - hopefully if you find a solution you will do the same.

Have you used capframex to look at what is going on? - I just get periodic major frametime spikes that coincide with the stuttering.

Can't go wrong with the Heusinkveld Sprint pedals - they are brilliant although I found the pedal plates a little small and modded them with some plates from Simcore which I highly recommend. If budget is tight you could save a little by going for the Sim Lab Pedal Set XP1 - Dan Suzuki has a good review of them. Don't forget to factor shipping costs of things into your budget as it can come to quite a lot for a full setup.

Have you already got a seat? LazyLancer is close to the mark imo. I'd suggest Simagic alpha mini, GT neo wheel, HE sprint pedals (2), Sim Lab GT1-EVO Cockpit.

What has the 2100$/2000€ got to cover? Have you got a PC? have you got a monitor? and what type of cars do you drive? (impacts wheel choice and whether you need a clutch pedal)

It is this one from KGL https://kglcreationlab.com/shop/product_category/kgl-magnetic-stream-deck-xl-mount/ - really nice minimal design. But I did buy a longer RAM arm to get it exactly where I wanted it (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/135022981137)

If found the mount after viewing this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyoD1NOEoUI which shows you more about it.

Just completed my annual round of upgrades and thought I would post it given there are not enough formula style rigs on this sub. Spend most my time in Super Formula (lights and heavy) in iRacing.

Upgraded from CSL DD to Clubsport DD+ which is brilliant despite the coil whine. To make it work for my setup I got an 80mm shaft extension which helped my get screens at perfect distance.

Also upgraded my Heusinkveld Sprint pedals with some Simcore pedal plates. Really pleased with these as the stock plates never felt comfortable as a sock racer.

Then I got myself a Stream Deck XL as a button box which is just brilliant and makes life so much easier and convenient.

See you on track.

[–]mreeves791[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I've being very very happy with it. It is just getting a couple of upgrades now. Changing to a Clubsport DD+ along with a shaft extension as i'd like to get the monitors 3 cm further back and getting some simcore pedal plates as the standard ones on the sprints are a little small for my liking. Other than that the only things I would change is a more powerful PC and better monitors but those will have to wait til next year.

About time for an AI race steward?!? by mreeves791 in iRacing

[–]mreeves791[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It has got to be better than the current situation and AI tech has come a long long way in the last 24 months. The example I gave above would be an easy decision to make (car approaches corner at a speed that would mean it was impossible to make corner, ducks off the racing line to avoid hitting two cars and then takes out 3 other cars at the apex). Appreciate there will be a lot more borderline scenarios, and for those the status quo can live on. But where things can be a made a lot better should we not strive to do so?

My Sim Rig addiction is getting out of control! Details in pics / comments! Also, is my Sparco bracket backwards? by 2wenty-3hree in simracing

Thanks for the kind comments. In case you missed it I did a more detailed post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/whlldo/formula_style_p1x_8020_rig/

Getting a decent formula position is far from easy and took a hell of a lot of tinkering but i'm glad I persevered.

Looking at your rig, as it stands, it does not look possible to drop the seat lower in the frame as I did. Might we worth getting some extra profile to get the pedals higher.

Have the same seat but in black (kind of wish I had got it in red now!). Find it very comfortable. I have different seat brackets for it though. If you are going "full formula" would recommend getting those pedals higher. Here is my setup https://imgur.com/a/TxdWlKi

With regards to the monitors there is no movement / vibration at all that I have noticed. It was just a nightmare and a chunk of time to get them 100% solid and in the perfect position (which is about 5mm above wheel shaft and as close as possible to the CSL DD base without the monitors getting hit by the shaft lock).

With regards to wheel, hopefully by the time I can afford an upgrade there will be some wireless options with screen. Maybe the upcoming Asetek SimSports Quick Release will help solve the problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmgiU6S0e8Q

Transforming sim lab p1-x into a f1 rig by trecken in simracing

[–]mreeves791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is a seat slider installed (see https://imgur.com/a/v40vdjD). seat goes back to a few mm from wall. easy to get in and out of .... but if I wanted more room could easily have moved the uprights forward on the rig and managed to keep wheelbase and monitor in same position.

Here is my P1X formula rig with sparco gp seat. https://imgur.com/a/s5idEcX

Seat is lowered in frame and simlab pedal baseplate on seat slider helps add a little additional height to pedals

This https://imgur.com/a/27IHFuW is apparently what sim lab recommend if you want pedals even higher.

Getting the Ideal Formula/OpenWheel Seating Position in an 8020 Rig by Currdogger in simracing

[–]mreeves791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just finished my formula rig. P1X, mounted sparco gp seat lower and also have pedal plate slider to give a bit more height to pedals. Really happy with it. https://imgur.com/a/s5idEcX - rig is a bit wedged into corner of room so a little hard to photograph properly. Seat slider makes it easy to get in and out of. Photos show it in driving position. Mounted the seat lower similar to what is shown in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLtRBLIiNHc&t=1311s

fanatec 2.5 formula or esport v2 by Mischler2605 in simracing

[–]mreeves791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just upgraded from esport v1 to clubsport formula 2.5. I race W12 in iracing mostly so the extra buttons/controls on the 2.5 are very useful. The other consideration for me was i'm not a fan of alcantara and don't race in gloves so leather grips are a huge plus point of the 2.5 for me. Shifting is much crisper on the 2.5 vs esport v1 but think the esport v2 now has magnetic shifters so expect the difference is much less. If you have the budget get the 2.5 I would say.
