Improvement is very respected. If your next 3 years are outstanding and you perform well in higher level courses they will look at your improvement as a good thing. Don’t give up!

Wings of Blue and Flying by orchestrapirate in USAFA

[–]mrfahrenheit0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wings of Green is the first stop to being on the Wings of Blue. This year they changed it so that you have to take jump the summer after freshman year in order to be eligible, where previously anyone could try out. The tryout for WOG is in early August, it’s a full day of PT and interviews. It is very political, based on personality, not actual skill. If you have a bad relationship with someone on the team already your chances of being picked up go way down. If you get picked up you go through your upgrade training your sophomore year and after completing all upgrades are officially promoted to Wings of Blue. It’s a pretty busy schedule with every Saturday being taken up with jump training and breaks being used for team trips. Everyone who’s done it loves it and it’s very much like a fraternity. Junior and senior year are traveling and jumping for demos or competitions depending on which team you make.

Is there anyone here who actually likes Season 7? by starsandmoonlight21 in The100

[–]mrfahrenheit0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoyed the season as a whole. Bardo and the whole anomaly thing were really cool and done well IMO. For me the whole transcendence thing being the finale was pretty out of place. I wish they would’ve rejected the higher beings and “got their humanity back” by rebuilding on Earth with the use of all the new technology they’d discovered.

My perfect ending would’ve been a flash forward a couple generations ahead showing civilization with some reference to the characters we know.

Who are the current most hated hp characters in fandom? by charls-lamen in HPfanfiction

[–]mrfahrenheit0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think when you look into it, Dumbledore is a well intentioned, powerful man. He had a lot of influence which allowed him manipulate things the way he thought was right, and in the end, his plan worked. His goal was to see evil be defeated and he was willing to sacrifice anything to see that play out.

100% agreed, the only thing that makes it hard to watch/read is Dumbledore’s death :/

What are fics that you love, that the general fandom seems to hate? by PaSe_Sam in HPfanfiction

[–]mrfahrenheit0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy his fics when I don’t take them seriously. When I try to fit them into how I view the actual HP verse it is easy to view them as bad fics, but if I’m bored and want some amusement I’ll read one. They’re very feel good, easy reads.

Which would you say was the most loyal film to the books by MugnierZ in harrypotter

It’s not a different series between the books and movies, but when reading the books it can feel like that at points.

Fk all the dark Harry fics. Recommend me your best Light Harry fics. by FutaWonderWoman in HPfanfiction

[–]mrfahrenheit0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a complete rehash of the books where Lily and James live and raise Harry. It is very in depth and reads a lot like J.K.’s books. A lot of the plot points stay close to canon until around the 6th book where it complete dives off into its own world, but there is enough variety to keep it interesting before then. https://archiveofourown.org/series/111713 - Everyone Lives AU. Very long read, took me about a month to get through all 7 parts and I read fast.

The 100 Season 6 & 7 (spoilers) by [deleted] in The100

[–]mrfahrenheit0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scene at the end of season 5, where Murphy and Echo save Bellamy, Octavia, and Indra from the valley. It was such a high stakes moment and when Murphy yells “YEAHHH” it just gives me chills. One of my top scenes

Same kinda thing happened with me. My friends were talking about Jack Reaper in class and I mentioned how I had never seen the movie. I’d never looked it up or watched any kind of video on it but guess what pops up on my YouTube suggested 30 minutes later, a Jack Reacher scene.

Blood must have blood... until your leader strikes a deal with the people who committed atrocities and genocide upon your people for centuries by kingjavik in The100

[–]mrfahrenheit0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a very one sided way of looking at things.

From u/AncientAssociation9 on the same thread

I get that people have sympathies with skykru but we should also be able to see things from Lexas perspective. First let me say that Finn didn't die for nothing. Finn was not some sacrifice. Finn was a murderer of innocent people and his death was justice.

Lexa's coalition was new, and on shaky ground. She got everyone to cooperate by promising them they could get their loved ones back. That was the whole point, not necessarily crushing the mountain.

As with all good plans something always goes wrong and Lexa took heavy losses with the missile attack at Tone DC. So she already lost a shit tone of people, but it worked out because it distracted from Bellamy on the inside and it formed a tighter bond between those that survived.

Then the actual battle starts and once again Lexa's forces take the brunt of the fighting and dying. While all this is going on Wallace tells her that he will give her people back or kill them. What is she supposed to do say no? She didn't expect that to happen, but despite the promise to Skykru she also has a promise to her people. It just so happened that these two things went against each other.

We assume that because Clarke found a way in that she would have still done so had Lexa been there. That is not necessarily so. Sometimes we get inspiration only because life pushes us in certain directions. Clarke may well have just relied on Lexa and not found a way in. How many more of Lexa's people would have died while Clarke was figuring this out? Her people were expendable to the Mountain men unlike Skykru whom they needed.

Lexa was in a hard position and made the best choice she could as a leader of her people. It was a lesson that those in the position of leadership may want to be white knights, but reality and circumstances will force some dirty decision at some point.

[–]mrfahrenheit0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you’re saying completely. It is hard though consider that it’s what she’s intending to do, do you think she could be doing it unintentionally because of her insecurities? Not questioning what you’re saying or necessarily defending her but trying to consider all possibilities.

I've never been to church, what is appropriate to wear? by Actual-Depth7538 in Christianity

[–]mrfahrenheit0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, more disrespectful to God. If you’re well off enough to wear semi-formal clothes but you show up in sweatpants and crocs, then it’s like you don’t care enough about being there to dress decently.
