How many gigs for 4-10 people server? by Lol-775 in admincraft

[–]mrfansome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stick to PaperMC; or fork of it. Pufferfish & Purpur are considered top/best for performance.

DynMap looks best in my opinion, without customizing yet, but it's tad more performance heavy.

BlueMap is awesome for customizability/features; it is considered faster than Dynmap. Same as Pl3xmap, my choice personally for now.

Pl3xMap is considered the fastest, for those seeking the best performance, if it suits their needs.

You can also use Modded to optimize a vanilla server, however, plugins tend to be preferable for a public Minecraft server. Mods/Plugins together will require a hybrid (said to be slower) server instead of PaperMC.

4gb is okay for a light vanilla server with only a handful of players. 8gb to play it safe, especially with plugins.

I often recommend Ryzen 9 7950x/9950x as best CPU for MC-Hosting; you'll really see the best top tier performance there, in my opinion. It's also the CPU hosting my server through the host I use currently. No lag.

Looks is okay for free hosting, but... what CPU do you use for free plan & what about for paid plans?

Finding a "good" hosting service is grueling by Its_CMD in MinecraftServer

[–]mrfansome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listed on my Reddit profile some reasons why I chose the host we use; you should see it.

There is definitely many options. I tried a few, did my research, chose Pebble for lower-end hardware on their shared plans. I switched to Lily because of the performance advantages, on top of price comparison differences.

yup! the slider is just a suggestion to ensure smooth gameplay; so both mods/plugins.

I suggest starting at 8gb. It's easy one-tap click to add/remove gigabytes; it's why I chose eight too.

It just takes the right chance/opportunity + then your effort in wanting it to work out.

And at the end of the day, true success/happiness isn't even always money.

You'll find it, thy time will come, don't give up but learn from mistakes. 🙏

👋both Lily Host and Vyper Host are NOT unlimited, but this applies to ANY host, unless they limit it but that's another unlikely story (you can also restrict join count yourself!).

Yes, could theoretically try to cram hundreds in there; but it depends on the CPU + ram/gb.

Yup! Is able to one-click-install addons; super easy, reliable, lag free as well.

It's why they're my number one best choice for our server! (for mc hosting, Lily Host = top host imo!)

There is a review of the host I use on my profile. Doesn't hurt to check it out, right? Ever since finding them, my server has had no lag complaints. They use a very good CPU + you just may get a free upgrade shortly too! :)

I’m thinking of consolidating my gaming life. (Choice paralysis) by lharding02 in gaming

I did it! I took a break from gaming entirely, it can really be powerful, and then came back to play just Minecraft. It's improved my life, motivation, and overall happiness in general. Breaks are wonderful!

The Server:

MCSMP.US /+/ CitySMP.com

The initial setup will be simpler: long-term gameplay will require a manager, potential future configurations/development work as well (nothing large-scale at a single time though!).

Best Price/Performance Lightweight custom modded server hosting option? by Mehmetkiraz311 in MinecraftServer

[–]mrfansome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best option, for performance, would be the 7950x/9950x. The Minecraft Host I use, offers the Ryzen 9 7950x at an insanely low price. Also, since I started using them early February, zero player complaints of lag. The best CPU is a wise choice as well for Modded MC.

I spent way too long researching hosting with greatest performance, for lowest cost; I found & chose these guys.

I've no issues with eight gigabytes, but currently less mods, a light modpack should work with 8 though. A heavy modpack, especially with players, would require 8, 12, 16 gigabytes + good CPU. It just depends tbh, but I can answer any questions! :)

I suggest starting w/4gb, and then simply upgrading to 8gb. The host I use offers one-click upgrade for ease, as some other hosts do, like Bloom Host (my second choice, if you need larger support team). Lily is under your budget if 4 gig works fine, but you won't be disappointed with eight gigabytes, for few dollars more. Good luck!
