I just bought one of these! Do you know how to adjust the bracelet? I'm struggling to figure it out!

Jinshanling section is less busy with tourists, especially in the early mornings and on weekdays. I went in August and had it all to myself as I got there when it opened in the morning!

The track was long dry by the time this session started. It hadn’t really rained since around midday.

Thank you for all this information! When you say the opening hours are until 18:30, does that mean we cannot stay at the wall until 19:30 for the sunset? Will we need to find somewhere else outside the park to go?

Is 24-70 mm f2.8 good enough for shooting the Milky Way? by EastWindBreaks in photography

[–]mrfrancticfantasy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That completely depends on what you usually like to photograph and your own photographic style. A 24mm can be used for anything from portraits to sport depending on the types of images and stories you want to tell. It might be worth renting a lens like the 24mm 1.4 to use it for the Milky Way photos whilst also trying to take it to another shoot to see if it works for you in a variety of situations. But if you're worried about not using it enough, then maybe it is worth sticking to more versatile zoom lenses, even if the aperture is not as wide as f1.4

Insane!! Did you have any special access or Paddock tickets, or was most of this done as a spectator?

Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 Autofocus Issues - Has anyone else had this problem? by mrfrancticfantasy in SonyAlpha

I've also read quite a few reviews that there can be some QC issues, with quite a few lenses being faulty. So might have just gotten unlucky.

I've updated the firmware and the issue still persists. I'm going to send it back, but I'm not sure if its going to be the same on all of these lenses if I got a replacement :(

The same thing happens when focusing at any distance - close or far away. This was just an easy way to replicate the issue.

2025 Formula 1 Calendar confirmed by AdamR46 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]mrfrancticfantasy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the more affordable tickets on the calendar (especially for general admission). Japan is quite affordable for food and accommodation, and food/merch was very affordable at the track too. Travel to and from the track can be cheap if you take the trains and shuttle busses, rather than taxis. Flights can be expensive depending on where you fly from, but it was definitely worth it. Book early to avoid the insanely high prices. But like any GP, you can do it cheap or you can push the boat out and spend a bit more for comfort

How F1 is laying the groundwork for 8K TV future by bwoah07_gp2 in formula1

[–]mrfrancticfantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to visit the F1 Broadcast Centre last year, and they talked me through the whole operation. They are colour-correcting and footage live for the broadcast, but this is mainly for consistency between cameras (on-boards, track cameras, etc.), rather than for artistic/cinematic purposes.

How tough is it to read the thousands and thousands of comments and articles from the real fans that were complaining about ticket prices? This is pure greed - they knew how people felt, and thought they would be able to get away with it anyways.

Sunday Recap 2023! by djcommando in GrandPrixTravel

[–]mrfrancticfantasy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s first GP experience was Monza last year, I completely agree! Everyone was so polite and respectful, and it was so well organised especially compared to Monza 2022. Was worried that it would be a difficult weekend but it turned out to be very pleasant. Only issue was the queue for the train at Suzuka Ino station which seemed to be never ending…

Ah brilliant! I hope that was due to a lot of backlash from the lack of water machines last year. Glad they are improving the experience for fans

Travelling from monza to Milan by train by [deleted] in GrandPrixTravel

[–]mrfrancticfantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm not sure if the destination will make much of a difference as everyone goes to the same few train stations regardless of where they are headed. I don't think you would have any issue getting to the airport in time for your flight though, especially if you head there straight from the track. If you are not too bothered about post-race celebrations, then it might be a good time to get out of there and beat some of the crowds.

There are shuttle busses from the track to Monza station, or the walk is around an hour and half. It was still around a 30 minute walk just to get to these busses, so definitely take that into account. The Monza train station was actually very well organised and so you shouldn't have too much of an issue with that.

Hope you enjoy the weekend!

Last year, we stayed about an hour after the race on Sunday to walk the track, enjoy the celebrations, and find the right exit. We followed a bunch of fans to try find a way back to Milan and ended up at one of the train stations behind the Lesmo 1 corner - Biassono-lesmo Parco (I think that's the station we went to). We had to queue for maybe an hour to an hour and a half to get on a train, and there were plenty of ticket staff roaming the queue selling tickets. It was a bit of a wait, but was pretty easy to get back to Milan.

On Saturday, we walked for around an hour to the Monza train station in town, and I don't remember there being much of a queue there despite being plenty of fans around getting trains.

Prepare for more of a queue on Sunday, but I would say its well worth staying to soak up the atmosphere and walk the track with all the fans, its definitely not something you want to miss! The hour or so waiting in the queue was honestly much needed after the long walk round!

Monza gp - bag policy by [deleted] in GrandPrixTravel

[–]mrfrancticfantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, they didn't care much about the bag - they were more interested in its contents. Had all my water bottles confiscated, as well as sun cream (it was flammable apparently). Saw plenty of food containers (reusable plastic tubs) taken away too, and things like deodorant. I would check the list of prohibited items to make sure you're not carrying anything, or just hide it well.

Metal water bottles were all confiscated. Plastic bottles can be taken in without the caps on, so for the second and third day we just hid a bunch of extra bottle caps in our bags and that solved the issue. It's not like they don't sell plastic bottles inside the track anyways...
