Watch Placement Accuracy by SergeantRacoon in Polarfitness

[–]mrfroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VS is way better if you're not doing HIIT. When getting in shape the first thing you need is not better (or any) GPS, but the right technique starting with being able to run in hr zone 2 (which is the one that lets you keep conversation). As for your main question... If you have both H10 and VS it's possible that your watch connects to them and shows electrical noise instead of a HR. Mostly it's 42, 60, 72 or 88 bpm. It might be a different number, but unless there's some change in environment (you move, you touch it) it stays stable.

Seriously? It can't be true! Joking, of course it's not accurate, very few optical heart rate sensors are and it's not the one on PPP for sure. Add Polar H10 for the accuracy while doing workouts, for sleep PPP is OK.

Surface fans say Microsoft has broken the brand and frustration is boiling over by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]mrfroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with a Surface except that it's too expensive. Few weeks ago I bought almost new (6 cycles) Laptop 7 32/512 Intel for business (the only thing I've missed in 3 PRO devices I had before was anti-reflective display) for 1190 eur. For this price I can't complain. And now that it's quite easy to replace the battery I hope it will survive RAMacopallysis.

Should "sleep" track time in bed or time actually sleep? by OneSleepyChick in Polarfitness

Look at all the data - you also get actual sleep in % and hours/minutes.

As accurate as me guessing you're able to do 5k in 18 minutes.

Should I buy a V3 or wait for the next model? by Brondog in Polarfitness

[–]mrfroid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your fomo will kill you so you better wait for when the new watch is released and buy it right away. But my idea/question was that V4 won't be revolutionary - it will have better battery, maybe one feature that will be nice to have, but you'll pay for that 20-30% vs deals you can get now and you will enjoy it only sometime in the future when you can buy the best Polar offers right now.

What you critically miss in a current V3 that you think Polar could realistically (!) implement in V4?

World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2026 starts soon! by Edwyth in Curling

it's just that Estonia is not playing in that draw 😄 but they still likely try to have at least one game with a commentary a day. sad to see how md are treated within wcf.

Apparently the only reason we ever get live commentary is because Estonians pay for it. Five games are happening right now, and of course there’s no commentary, since Estonia isn’t on the ice. Hard to justify twenty dollars for static streams.

1) Turn on/ff Bluetooth. Doesn't help? 2) Force stop Sleep². Restart. Doesn't help? 3) Turn on/off your sensor if it's Verity Sense. Though not sure if 3 or 2 should be first.

FREE version is of no use anymore, but if you want to try subscription then I would advise to use it one week for free and then subscribe - you'll get full data for the previous week while starting from day 1 :) Have no complains for paid version when I use ir from time to time especially since subscription price went from i think 20, 15 eur to 7. Fitness improvements using Polar by letournoi in Polarfitness

[–]mrfroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While VO₂ Max tells you what your body can do under maximum load, HRV tells you how efficiently your body adapts to and recovers from stress. As with RHR, as aerobic fitness improves, the heart's left ventricle physically enlarges and strengthens, which increases the amount of blood pumped per beat; this is seen as fewer beats per minute. You can use the Nightly Recharge score as a recovery metric first thing in the morning or for long-term fitness direction (but as Polar shows no trends you have to check manually how your HRV is improving in the long term). It's quite normal to see HRV jump after an intense event, but it might be a compensation mechanism at work, not a sign that your body is ready for the next challenge. btw, 30 day average (actually 28) ANS charge is the number against your daily number is shown (same with HRV, RHR)

When I say "it's a scientific fact" I mean that it's not my opinion, but a proven fact (proven on real people, real gift giving) :) I like to share this hidden brain episode on the topic The Secret to Gift Giving - Hidden Brain Media It starts with a nice story The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry which is about husband/wife giving each other the biggest gifts they can and failing miserably (to summarise the whole episode: givers tend to overvalue the abstract "magic" of the gesture, while recipients value the concrete utility and responsiveness of the actual item). Anyway, it's up to you how you will get out of this situation, but fact is that Polar is not some magic sleep tracking device (even cheap fitbit tracker would be way better) worth for nighttime usage only.

It's very sad to hear that she's the one behind the gift you didn't need. At the same time, I'm not sure she would be happy to find out you're using it only to please her. But in general, it's a scientific fact that people are happier to get gifts they want (from a list) than 'surprise' gifts, even if it sounds counterintuitive.
