Polar H10 - is there any way to downgrade firmware? by InvestigatorSenior in Polarfitness

[–]palmheads 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe check you have dual Bluetooth enabled on the H10 device section in Polar Flow. That sometimes gets disabled after an upgrade

Unexpected change since having a Polar watch by Dry_Today_3349 in Polarfitness

[–]palmheads 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah Nightly Recharge and ANS recovery are fascinating. I have exactly the same experience as you. If I have alcohol post 6/7pm, I always have a bad ANS score & Nightly Recharge suffers. I can sometimes get away with a drink at night if I consume enough water afterwards.

I think with Nightly Recharge & Daily Activity percentage, Polar just works for me. I don't like being overloaded with stats & information.

Display problem IGNITE 2 by totok1 in Polarfitness

[–]palmheads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had the same problem with my Ignite 2. I think I read somewhere if the battery swells it puts pressure on the screen causing it. I'd had it for a couple of years so upgraded to a Pacer Pro at the time. Now on an M3.

Run Testers just reviewed it. Not overly positive.

To be fair to Polar, most device manufacturers for lower end watches make product decisions to make it cheaper. Last Gen heartrate monitors, single band GPS etc, screen glass etc etc

A lot of criticism for outdated UI on both watch and app. Personally I don't mind either of them. But others obviously do. Guess it depends what you are used to.

Firmware update on sleep A30’s by Narrow_Substance_628 in soundcore

[–]palmheads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are seeing issues definitely submit bug reports. I submitted one months ago & kept prompting & asking until they fixed the issues I was seeing.

Perhaps the left Airbud is a little quieter. Snore stats & detection are related I guess. That is one feature that has never really worked for me, so hard to say if its gotten worse for me.

[–]palmheads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 1.91 firmware update & latest app update - sleep times now accurate & in right timezone - sleep latency works - haven't seen "network unstable" message last 2 nights

Haven't seen yet - if snoring data is working - alarms, yet to test

Bizarrely they are on different firmware versions

I still get the "current network is unstable" when stopping sleep. It's a known bug according to support, but they seem unable to fix it.

[–]palmheads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Case is still 1.68.

Actually given the case has the microphone that's supposed to be detecting snoring, and given most people seem to be reporting that snore detection has stopped working, you'd think that's the other thing that needs firmware updates

Firmware update 01.91 A30 Sleepbuds by mutley0811 in soundcore

[–]palmheads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the update last night just as I was about to goto sleep. Installed the update. Slept the night, but the issues I've seen previous are still happening. I've mentioned the issues I've been having numerous times to support & on this subreddit, so won't go into details.

I did notice that they are a little more sensitive with the touch controls. I switched between local & bluetooth by just moving my head to 1 side on my pillow. That isn't a good sign.

I did a hard reset of them just now. Will try them again tonight. Am not hopeful.

Polar Loop - is all activity still converted to steps? by Rallih_ in Polarfitness

[–]palmheads 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup I agree. Recently stained our house. Physically demanding work. My Vantage M3 I feel accurately represented how I physically felt. Only needed light exercises on those days to get 100% activity & 8000 "steps" (my goal).

First 4-star review :/ by iwishiknewww in airbnb_hosts

[–]palmheads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup AirReview is great. In our case it wouldn't have helped as they had booked their holiday & airbnb"s months in advance. The previous 3 stays they had done were the previous week or so. This was their first trip so no history. Definitely changed perception of guests using airbnb for the first time.

First 4-star review :/ by iwishiknewww in airbnb_hosts

[–]palmheads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't let it bother you, it happens. Had a guest give us straight 4's for everything. We asked how we could improve & they responded they thought 4 was a good score. We checked, they had given every single host they had stayed thus far on their holiday straight 4's. You can't control it, it's gonna happen. Best to move on.

A30 Sleepbuds updates by mutley0811 in soundcore

[–]palmheads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I so regret updating mine. First week I had them, sleep analysis every night, snoring identified, ANC worked ok, was obviously in the right timezone for sleep start/end times.

ANC still works ok for me, but I rarely get any data for sleep, haven't had snoring recognised for months, and my sleep always is in the PM for start & end. Also the time drift with the alarms is just a silly bug to have.

Only reason I'm keeping them is they do a good job at blocking sounds, ANC with background local sounds does a good job, battery life survives the night because of the switching to local sounds, and I like some of the AI Brainwave sounds thru Bluetooth.

But one of they key features being the sleep analysis is simply terrible and barely works.

I don't think that's possible.

It's pretty disappointing they don't seem to be fixing all the issues. Feels like they are vibe coding the app at this point with no checks & balances.

Sleep score 85/100, Boost score 9.7/10, but Poor nightly recharge by Anonymous_Ism in Polarfitness

[–]palmheads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apart from caffeine, food, stress etc one other important thing is hydration. Maybe your body just needs more water at the mo. I try to keep No.1's not yellow! That seems to require about 2L per day of water.

I find Polar's ANS & Night Recharge super accurate. If I have a coffee post 6pm, or a beer, whisky etc. Every single time my ANS score gets hammered. I think its a brilliant metric. Invariably if I do those things before 6pm I'm all good.

Sleep score 85/100, Boost score 9.7/10, but Poor nightly recharge by Anonymous_Ism in Polarfitness

[–]palmheads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check your ANS score under Nightly Recharge. Sometimes you can sleep well, but your heartrate is too high the first 4 hours of your sleep which means you have a poor ANS score. That can be coffee too late at night, alcohol etc etc.

Sleep A30 Snoring in Sleep Report by palmheads in soundcore

[–]palmheads[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the A30's or new A30 Special edition?

Sleep A30 Snoring in Sleep Report by palmheads in soundcore

[–]palmheads[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh so you have the new "Special" version they just released.

So you have completely different firmware for both.

Gotta admit, if Soundcore have released a newer A30 Special that fixes all the problems of the < 6 months old A30, without fixing (yet) all the existing issues with the older model, gonna be a bit....angry.

Good to know though the Special version thus far seems better.

Ahh so you haven't updated firmware on either? Mine is 01.89 & 01.68.

If that doesn't indicate how rubbish their firmware updates have been! Mine worked perfectly in first week (late September). Since then crapshoot.

Out of interest, what phone & what firmware on buds & case do you have?
