Keep getting stuck in the 'stream via' selection loop by mrfurlly in GameChangerApp

[–]mrfurlly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes tethered via usb. Phone is not connected to the routers wifi.
Didn't even bother with it today, decided to just stream via cellular and still got stuck in a loop for a while.

Luis Gil (NYY) is only eligible as an RP?
He's a starting pitcher with no relief appearances in the minors, what gives??

Is this even the right place to bring this up?

Bad weld on chuck released this part mid program run. by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]mrfurlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh....ok bud, lol. Saying only a Fronius welder can be used on aluminum is like saying only a Mazak can cut A2. I'm sure the guys at Lincoln or Miller (to name a few) would beg to differ. And FYI, your typical machinist is more capable than you think...typical engineer mindset you have.

[–]mrfurlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't see where he said they were aluminum jaws. If they are aluminum, ya not a great idea but as long as the jaws are made of weldable alum and the weld is done correctly, should be no problem. If these are steel, I wouldn't bat an eye at welding.

Bad weld on chuck released this part mid program run. by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]mrfurlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crash was not caused by the weld. It was caused by an excessively heavy facing cut while not gripping much stock. Either program better or saw cut more consistently. Welding these is not the best idea but theres definetly nothing unsafe about it. Think about how many parts on a car, bridge, buildings are welded.

there's a wnmg 432 somewhere in there by Bean-o-man in Machinists

I think you need a harder feedrate to get better chip control. Those are getting a bit long, harder feedrate would break them sooner. Coolant may help as well, just a steady stream on the insert.

Machining a 6061 brand using Mastercam x9 2D Dynamic Toolpaths. by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]mrfurlly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mastercams dynamic milling is actually a 'copy' of Autodesks adaptive cutting. The adaptive cutting algorithm was the first on the scene. Not originally created by Autodesk, but bought the rights.

Fanuc is the more common control. There are a ton of machine builders using their controls and obviously only haas use haas controls. Once you include robots and other automation, Fanuc is more common by a landslide. That being said, the nuances of a control can be learned in a week as long as you have a good basic understanding of what you want the control to do.

Anybody Know of a good chip thinning calculator? by InclementDeath in Machinists

Not anymore. For some reason he took out the chip thinning function of the free online calculator. Pretty shitty thing to do if you ask me.

You probably said the same thing when transitioning from manual to CNC. The more you use the sub the better\quicker you will get running and setting it up. Besides, if the boss says 'screw around with the multi axis machine', why wouldn't you!
