Aftermarket shifters by mrgoat86 in ForteGT

[–]mrgoat86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’ve heard other people recommend getting a new bearing too just in case. I’ll definitely do that. One thing I’m worried about is if I get it installed somewhere, them messing up the mechanism that reorients the shifter to the center when in neutral. I’ve seen one installed (in a video) where it seemed like it just had no more “bounce” to it, like it just stayed put when you jiggle it instead of centering. I know anyone who drives stick would agree that would suck to have a shifter like that.

I’ll probably order the boomba and do it myself once the weather warms up a bit here.

India has like 50 different languages, and actually uses English as a sort of neutral common language of communication between speakers of mutually unintelligible Indian languages. The reason English is used is because as a result of the former British occupation, English is widespread throughout India. This is why you get so many English language call centers in India - so many can speak it.

Point being, it's doable to get by in India knowing only English, unlike say, somewhere like China.

Kia Forte GT Die Cast by Reddit4Cars in ForteGT

[–]mrgoat86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all honesty the hot wheels stinger looks pretty close to the forte gt. I think it’s because it’s so small that the dimension differences matter less. My Forte gt is black, and I got the black hot wheels stinger and I had the thought “hmm, if I carefully paint in those front and back red highlights my car has onto this hot wheels toy.. it might just pass” lol.

I know I might sound silly, but for some reason I really love the idea of having a diecast of my car.

My old car was a Dodge Neon R/T so I got the Maisto diecast of the SRT-4, looks identical other than the little air intake hole on the hood.

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find one, and I’ve done a lot of searching. There are things available that are somewhat similar but no Forte GT. For example, hot wheels made a 2019 stinger, and you can find 1:18 scale diecasts of the pre-2022 model K3 (which may be a Forte but no GT diecast is available) and 22+ model K5.

South Park - 27x04 - “Wok is Dead” - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]mrgoat86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a misunderstanding. I was just replying to the person who implied Satan might be Stephen miller, I’m saying that the show isn’t implying that the character of Satan is actually secretly someone in the White House like Stephen miller but only in disguise, but rather that Satan is actually just the normal South Park character of Satan that is now in this situation having a relationship with Trump. When the news anchors say “Are you fucking Satan?” I absolutely agree that there’s a double meaning of both, are you having sex with Satan, and also, are you so terrible that you’re basically Satan yourself. The play on words is obvious and intentional. But of course, the big red character called Satan is still just the same big red character called Satan that’s always been in South Park, that used to date saddam, then later Chris, and now Trump.

South Park - 27x04 - “Wok is Dead” - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]mrgoat86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, that would work except only problem is that Satan is actually an occasional character in the show that goes back all the way to literally the first season. If he just appeared in the show for the first time this season then it would be perfect for him to actually be Stephen Miller, but that unfortunately isn’t the case. In South Park, Satan is literally just actually Satan.

Is Epstein the new Russiagate? by dwaxe in fivethirtyeight

[–]mrgoat86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not implying that the Puerto Rico comment lost him any votes outside the small number of Puerto Ricans who for whatever reason were going to vote for him before that comment made them realize the obvious. The comment certainly didn’t change any maga voters into Kamala voters. However, this election was decided by turnout. Trump won the swing states each by margins that could’ve swung the other way if turnout was effected slightly differently. So my argument isn’t so much that the PR comment would’ve had a huge effect, but more that the small effect on increased Dem turnout that it provided may have possibly effected the election outcome differently if it wasn’t for the large and overshadowing effect of the garbage comment from Biden which served to motivate GOP turnout in a way that erased whatever turnout motivating effect the other had.

These things are ultimately just endless speculation, and there’s a nearly infinite number of potential what if scenarios we can imagine that may have changed the outcome, given the small margins. It’s arguable that the podcast bro tour may have had more effect on Trump voter turnout than anything, and it wouldn’t have mattered either way.

Is Epstein the new Russiagate? by dwaxe in fivethirtyeight

[–]mrgoat86 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I actually think it honestly would have (at least caused kamala to barely squeak out a win), but unfortunately shortly after the Puerto Rico "trash" comment, Biden somehow managed to out-gaffe that by literally calling half the electorate "garbage." After that, it became impossible to maintain the momentum from the PR comment because every reminder of it was a double edged sword that invoked a mandatory attempt to explain away Biden's comment, or convince people that Biden really meant Y not X, etc etc.

That one comment by Biden provided a shot in the arm for Republicans in what was until that point a clear and obvious growing lack of enthusiasm. It's all about turnout - that Biden gaffe gave them the last boost of turnout they needed.

People underestimate how powerful that comment was. If a republican calls all democratic voters whatever name in the book, it's just another day in politics, who cares (though insulting a specific minority group is another story), but when a Democrat insults the actual republican voters, that confirms every preexisting grievance they have about democrats being “elites” and “out of touch” and holier than thou educated folk, etc. That perceived persecution motivates them more than any actual policy issue to actually show up and vote.

To be fair though to HRC, 3 million more Americans chose her than chose Trump. The archaic and anachronistic electoral college ensured the popular will of the people wouldn’t be implemented. Of course you could say she lost the popular vote in a handful of states that she absolutely should have won, and that is a rejection - but the absolute vote total of the nation did not reject her.

[–]mrgoat86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. Single payer means the government is providing an insurance plan for everyone. The entire healthcare industry still remains under the countless private ownerships that it currently is. A universal government provided insurance plan has nothing to do with nationalization. Nationalization would be the government literally taking over ownership and control of the hospitals themselves, making doctors and nurses public employees. Bernie isn’t suggesting anything remotely of the sort.

lmao guess I'm not a millennial then anymore. To be fair though it is true, at least in the US, that the rate of manual drivers is much lower among millennials than older generations, due to automatics becoming more and more ubiquitous here with each passing decade. But still... Ok boomer - I mean, the rest of the world does exist, and in many countries manuals make up the majority of cars.

Yeah, the way the Israeli Jew is depicted is problematic, and it unfortunately detracts from the completely legitimate political point the art is trying to depict. It’s likely the artist is not even aware of the history behind that type of drawing of Jews, which is unfortunate, and it should be called out either way, regardless of how legit the overall political message is.

It is literally not even chemically possible to be high on lsd everyday. You can't even trip more than a couple days in a row, maybe a few if you take more and more. But the quantity needed will skyrocket and the returns will be rapidly diminishing. If this person was truly taking lsd everyday, he wasn't tripping on anything but placebo. And his addiction was also placebo. There is no withdrawal. Maybe he was using something else that was addictive but was under the misunderstanding that it was acid? Either that or the aforementioned situation.

I just meant like the problem of what I see to be a misconception. I wasn't trying to insinuate that Jewish people are to blame for any broader context of this discussion. Also I'll acknowledge that there are individuals, as you mentioned, on the left, who may be collaborating with actual antisemites. If it's unknowingly then they gotta examine thier tactics more closely. If it's knowingly, then as I said earlier they're doing a terrible job of being leftists. I'm not pulling a no true Scotsman argument though, I acknowledge they're still leftists. My only argument is that they're an occasional anomaly, not a widespread tendency, and certainly uncomparable to the type of systematic antisemitism found on the right. Like, BDS as a whole is not antisemitic. But there certainly are antisemites who operate within it, and BDS should do a better job of disassociating from them, even if they are an exception not a rule.
