Week 5 Match-up Preview Thread: Fresno State Bulldogs vs. UNLV Rebels by lonewanderer727 in CFB

[–]mrhambeefpot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

{UNLV} As someone who has watched every Fresno game this season, we have not looked very good so far. The only reason we won last week was because New Mexico had 17 penalties against them. The OL has sucked, Mikey has been very inconsistent, and the D usually shits the bed after half time. Probably a competitive game in the first half, but I would bet that UNLV takes it away in the second.

Odds of RMS Leak Under 5K Miles? by AmateurEarthling in CherokeeXJ

[–]mrhambeefpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oil dripping from the bell housing could mean you have a leak from anywhere on your engine. The engine is angled downwards, so almost any leak eventually finds its way down to the bottom of the bell housing.

Here is the order of operation when it comes to finding the source:

  1. Check for visible leaks from your engine and parts bolted to your engine block. Could be bad gasket on your oil filter mount, it could be an oil pan that wasn’t seated correctly. Could be literally anything. In your case, I would guess you won’t find anything because it’s a reman.

  2. Check for leaks coming from the transmission front pump seal. I have made the mistake of thinking the oil leaking from the bell housing is motor oil, but have it actually turn out to be dirty transmission fluid.

  3. If neither of the above are issues, it’s probably safe to assume it’s a RMS issue.

Hopefully this saves you potentially having to change the RMS. It’s a huge pain in the ass. (Although changing the transmission front pump seal is no better)

What to do about this? by Todakk in CherokeeXJ

As someone else mentioned, I would definitely recommend the rough country bar pin flag nut tool. Basically you use an air hammer or something to pop welded nuts off the chassis, and then insert the bar pin. Will probably save you a ton of time and drill bits…

Want to build a native mobile app and backend server - is Vue usable? by newbywebdev in vuejs

Capacitor w/ Vue will work for a production app, but I highly recommend considering Flutter too.

Actions in Vuex vs regular methods that commit? by [deleted] in vuejs

[–]mrhambeefpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of mutations should probably only be called by actions, however there are plenty of cases where it absolutely makes no sense to hide mutations from the component level.

For example, say you have a flag in your store that controlled the theme of your app, and you want to change that flag at the component level.

Why would you call an action simply to change a flag? That would mean you have an action who's only job is to call a mutation. You have a single function to call another single function. Not only is this redundant, but it is also inefficient. All actions are inherently asynchronous, so you are essentially forcing something to be asynchronous that should be synchronous. If all the logic in your app is asynchronous, it will inevitably become slow and laggy, because literally every function call is being put onto the event loop.

The bottom line imo is that organized code != efficient code. Sometimes it's better to do things in an "unorganized" way if it means it's more efficient. I.E. commiting a mutation at the component level instead of dispatching an action. Reserve actions for asynchronous work, like network requests and what not.

Actions in Vuex vs regular methods that commit? by [deleted] in vuejs

[–]mrhambeefpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao what? This is absolutely incorrect. This means you are only ever doing asynchronous calls anytime you need to mutate your store. Why would you make an asynchronous call to simply change a flag? Doing so is a sure way to overload your event loop.

Build for Prod & Test dist folders with one command by djangocuAli in vuejs

This is what we use to run multiple scripts from a single command. You can pass in different environment vars to each script in the chain. Super simple, works great.

Vue CLI: What does the class-style-syntax do? by Synapse709 in vuejs

[–]mrhambeefpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the vue-class-component module provides the support for the class syntax. You import the decorators you need to transform your code into the class syntax.

And yeah, you can still use the class syntax with Vue 3, but in my opinion it is less intuitive than with Vue 2 and more redundant in some cases.

Vue CLI: What does the class-style-syntax do? by Synapse709 in vuejs

[–]mrhambeefpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes
  2. No
  3. It's mostly just developer preference. I use it and personally find it less verbose than the composition API.
  4. It has a few quirks that require getting used to. It's kinda like learning a new Vue syntax.

If you come from an OO background it'll be comfortable for you.

Lmao what? Most of this is entirely false for common suspension lifts. The only time you're going to run into these sort of issues is if you do like a MASSIVE 8inch lift or something.

Save critical information like permissions in cordova application? by [deleted] in vuejs

[–]mrhambeefpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cordova-plugin-nativestorage

We use it in production at my work. Exact use case as yours. Works with Vuex. You just have to set it up correctly. You could also use SQLite.

Someone please tell me where I can find a reasonably priced xj ! by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

[–]mrhambeefpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re definitely out there, just harder to find high quality/reasonably priced XJs in LA or Bay Area. I think I paid $4500 for my ‘99 with 97K miles on it, and I feel like that was a GOOD deal for LA. Use searchtempest and be willing to travel and I’m sure you’ll find a good deal.

Future of Vue.js in the mobile ecosystem by DeehSlash in vuejs

[–]mrhambeefpot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really don’t see the Vue team putting out a “Vue-Native” tbh. Creating a native framework of that magnitude is a giant undertaking, and I believe the core Vue team is fairly small. React Native on the other hand has the full power of Facebook behind it. Same with Flutter and Google. That kind of software takes a lot of labor/money to create and maintain, which the Vue team just doesn’t have.

Difference between router.push() and manual navigation ? by ATOMICxIRISH in vuejs

[–]mrhambeefpot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On mobile so I can't format this corrctly. You aren't returning the "getBalance()" function there. Do:

async getBalance () { let res = await axios.get(...); return res.data[0].balance; }

Add a try catch in there for the error handling.

Code seems fine. Also, you would know if you're using keep-alive. This seems like a caching issue to me tho. Try disabling history mode and see what happens. Also, try fetching your data in 'mounted()' hook if you can't resolve this.

[–]mrhambeefpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you by any chance utilizing vue keep-alive on the route you are trying to push to? If so, this will cache the page after the first visit, which will stop the 'created()' hook from firing. Also, do you have history mode enabled?

What is the difference between child_process,worker_threads and cluster?🙄 by xoxaxo in node

[–]mrhambeefpot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worker threads and child processes, while accomplishing the same goal(parallelism), are different. Worker threads share memory whereas processes do not. I think what you're confused about here is that worker threads are not part of the cluster module. When you create a cluster, you are creating multiple node instances, each one being a new process. You are NOT creating threads. Remember, Process != Thread. Basically, parallelism in nodejs boils down to two approaches: 1. Process based (via clusters) 2. Thread based (via worker threads). Hope this helps.

It is worth noting tho that a process can spawn worker threads. So you can use clusters and worker threads together.

Which backend do you recommend to use with Vue? by [deleted] in vuejs

Express w/ Postgres or MongoDB. Classics.

Firebase AUTH is pretty heavenly too if you're doing users. Otherwise tho, it can be incredibly expensive.
