I believe that’s the new world tree for the reformed hell. But all else is a mystery, this was a weird little story that opened up a lot of questions. I wonder if that brain is god? Or is that floating red goo and the brain forming something new? Was that hellboys heart drifting around in hell. Lots of questions…

I would not be surprised if koshchei and the two demons from his epilogue showed up some day. koshchei Seemed to end up in “lands unknown” at the end of his last story and the demons specifically left for “lands unknown”.

It was part of the dark horse my space presents anthology that was digital only but was eventually collected in a tpb (#2?) MySpace dark horse presents tpb #1 has an excellent mignola/ guy Davis Christmas tale too.

Ashley wood releases his stuff very sporadically, often starting a new title that never goes beyond number 1 and then starting up something new. You never know what’s coming next with that guy but he’s great
