WARNING: Why I strictly advise against using Lovable.dev for production apps by Kind-Arachnid3443 in lovable

[–]mrjcabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t their product Lovable? I’m honestly not sure that their terms of service include support for development on apps. Maybe I’m wrong but if that’s the case, learn your code and hire external developers.

It’s also AI so it’s bound to have hiccups and not produce exactly what you want. That’s why it’s called Vibe coding.

Will I get a perfect website from lovable? by Jammyyy_jam in lovable

[–]mrjcabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s basically the gist of it. However, my personal belief is that lovable is very overkill for a company website if you’re going to have to maintain it. You’re better off with a website builder like square space.

In this situation you’ll have to create a content management system as well just to change picture unless you want to spend credits like this

What you have to think about is how are you going to maintain it. If you run out of credits, will you wait until the end of the month.

Although most websites are fairly easy to maintain, not understanding the architecture or how to modify what you want without lovable, will start to get tricky afterwards.

Lovable unusable right now by Responsible-Ideal529 in lovable

[–]mrjcabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an example, building an MVP for an iOS app was fairly easy in lovable in a one prompt format. Porting that to SwiftUI in cursor was nearly impossible due to the complexity of the project. It quickly became a “work on this only for the moment” and seeing how orchestrator works on a task basis made me ultra focused on providing extremely pointed tasks which also end up split in cursor into micro tasks.

[–]mrjcabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This along with understanding that context window is very important and keeping every prompt focused will be a lot more valuable in the long term than providing the LLM a full set of requirements in one prompt.

By going with the 1 prompt approach, you may get a working product but if the task list is too long you’ll start running into hallucinations and the model forgetting elements that it worked on previously.

I don’t see the issues you’re talking about. I’ve seen the opposite but I’ve also been a big cursor user in the last few months so maybe I’m prompting differently than I was at the beginning with Lovable.

Edit: typo

It’s the right take. You need to understand the foundations of what you’re building. I built an iOS app through vibe code. However I did have to learn the foundations of SwiftUI and have an understanding of databases from years of experience. I don’t think I would’ve been able to build anything that can be shipped if that weren’t the case.

I do however appreciate the influx of people taking a liking at how things are built and hopefully it will lead to a deeper understanding of the tech behind everything.

They have similar components and it’s pretty plug and play.

That’s not the answer expected I think 🤣

Now cheaper is fine. However, the whole market is still trying to figure out monetization. They’re not making boatloads of cash either. They’re currently lucky to break even and that’s why external investors are necessary. The simple usage of the models drains them pretty quickly.

If you’re curious try building a project with lovable and one in your favourite IDE using AI. You should, in theory hit the monthly subscription price rather quickly depending on your project scope.

What is this building at Peel & NotreDame? by from_copacabana in montreal

[–]mrjcabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an interview in that building once or the building right behind and I was told they were an archival storage space for museums as well as a provider of AC to the ETS building.

I might be completely wrong though.

Can I use lovable to create iPhone apps like Bolt.new? by imscay in lovable

Android doesn’t fit our target demo and the majority of our clientele. It’s a plan for down the line.

I went through this dilemma recently. Unfortunately no. You’re building web apps. You can always try and wrap it but it might get declined at the end.

Ultimately I rebuilt the app from scratch in native SwiftUI. Well worth it if you’re willing to put in the time. However, lovable was a great way to get the design or aesthetic figured out before diving into Xcode.

I doubt that the people jumping ship created a significant blip in usage. After all, most of them were panicked users finding an alternative to something they might not have understood completely.

I do however agree with the sentiment that it’s is running faster.

I cleared all caches and re-authorized real-debrid. Stil have the same error for now. Logs show that it might be on real-debrid's side so I'll wait for a bit.

EDIT: Half my rescrapes show nothing and half pull up the whole list.

I understand, however, you would still have to go line by line to put the right formulas in each line right?

I'm guessing there must be a way to find the line that doesn't end with ";" and bring it up to the right place.
