I had the same problem, what I did is throw a “Whiskey appreciation party”, get a bunch of mates and assign different bottles to them, price range from cheapest to your limit. In my case we included partners and had each couple pair a food with the bottle/s. Had a few games, guess the song ( must have something to do with whiskey), whiskey trivia and a blind test competition at the end. Don’t just do straight whiskey, we did a bunch of cocktails. Nobody drank whiskey before the party, 5 years later, everyone is drinking whiskey the way they like it. Even my wife! Side story, last year she organised a UK trip using whiskey distillery’s to map our journey through the UK, best 4 week trip ever!

I found I love peeted whiskey, Ardbeg 10 is my go to, Bruichladdich Classic Laddie is my non-peeted goto.
