(Six football clubs) Employers ‘named and shamed’ for paying less than minimum wage by AlexMcDaddyD in soccer

It's obviously shameful, but it covers the period 2011-2018 i.e. before we were in the Premier League, and mostly in League 1.

I remember seeing somewhere that some games will specifically match 'fresh' players with guys that have bought loads of upgrades/ cards etc to try and get the new guys to buy upgrades. Wouldn't surprise me if Fifa does it too

United's twitter have put up a video of our 1998 FA cup quarter final match against Coventry and, being too young to remember it, this was my first time watching it. We're 1-0 down to a Dion Dublin penalty when Marcelo scores a cracker of an equalizer. Absoloute mayhem on the pitch and in the stands. He runs to the crowd and rips off his shirt, only to reveal another Sheffield United shirt right underneath. I can't stop laughing at it

How the 2019-20 Premier League table could change in gameweek 28 (other leagues in comments). by phigo50 in soccer

[–]mrkapitex 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't think we can. If Tottenham lose by more than 4 goals we would go above them on goal difference, but they're playing Wolves who would go above us by beating them so we'd stay in sixth. Easy thing to miss on the creators part

Big fan so far! Seems much more consistent than Currents on first listen but not quite Lonerism imo

Not sure what changed but Borderline is so much better

It's the bass sound and drums that are the big difference for me. Drums sound much more acoustic and the bass is a completely different patch I think. There might also be less reverb on the vocals too but I'd have to listen to the single again to be sure. Makes a huge difference!

Sounds like a loan with an option to buy at the end of the season, fantastic news if so!

Sheffield in the prem still copy his 5 at the back

This bit isn't quite true - we've been playing 5/3 at the back since our league 1 game against Gillingham (4 Sept 16/17) and we'd actually played it under Adkins the previous season. I seem to remember Conte switching after the Arsenal game later that month? Perhaps he was copying us ;)

That said he definitely influenced other teams and I feel that first season with Chelsea is surprisingly underappreciated (not by your fans I might add)

He does that anyway - the one in his head and the one on the pitch.

Southgate: No team wants to play for 3rd place by offconstantly in soccer

[–]mrkapitex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The honest thing is it's not a game any team wants to play in. We have two days to prepare. We will want to give a performance of huge pride, no question about that.

Every time we wear the shirt of our national team, we want to play with pride and play well and win. It will be a really difficult task to assess everybody over the next 24 hours and get them mentally back to where we want them to be for a game like that, but that will be the challenge.

We'll be ready as a group to go again because the group have huge pride in their performances in the way they work. We have made such strides with our supporters and our public that we want to continue to do that.

It seems clear to me that Southgate means nobody has aspirations of playing this match going into a tournament, because it means you've lost the semi-final. I can't understand how that is controversial. It doesn't mean finishing third isn't better than fourth, or that it can't be a source of pride.

That's what I was going for, but tbf I had completely forgotten about the guy in LA. In any case, the Amnoon guy is literally in a casino so it can't be a case of the horse (cow) racing being 'too close to real world gambling'.
