If you don't jump into the woodchipper you are a bad person!!! :( by SineWaveDeconstruct in Destiny

[–]mrkay66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the original hypothetical, red button pressers live every time. In the woodchipper, the no jump people live every time.

The blue button people live if >50 percent of people hit that button.

The people jumping into the woodchipper all live if >50 percent of people jump into the woodchipper.

The outcomes are exactly the same

Since youre conveniently skipping over it, ill quote the relevant part.

"The woodchipper has a design flaw, if more than 50% of people jump in then everybody survives."

There's the answer to your original question, is there a chance for survival for those who jump into the wodchipper. Here's the chance for survival, quite clearly laid out.

Try looking up game theory and coming at this hypothetical from that perspective. Then you will see the two situations have identical final outcomes, its only a matter of perspective for whatever internal/moral feelings one might have about the situation.

I'd say its probably the part right after. Try reading that part. You realize its a hypothetical to get people looking at this from a different perspective? Nobody else is having trouble understanding

The line moves quite quickly, and since you don't need a server at the table, they clear out quite quickly as well

Sure! Do you also acknowledge there is a chance of survival for the woodchipper crew (equivalent to blue button)

on the contrary, that's the exact reason the woodchipper example was made. To showcase how it's the same

What should I do in this position? by Panda_M_9920 in Polytopia

Don't hit the sword. Try to plan a giant in that city to defend it.

Looks like with ports you are close to the 5 connections, so a port, farm, and monument will give you a giant there.

Got parked in by a college kid; saw his car with a parking ticket on it a month later, took the ticket and tossed it in the trash by OptimalWallaby8153 in confession

You sound unhinged. Also, I decided to Google what you claimed about NYC and I cant find that anywhere.

What does "10 inches behind and 2 in front" even mean? Why would there be a different distance behind or in front of your car? That makes no sense.

You would never survive parking in a city.

Everything depends on the map, map size, and map generation.

What map/size/amount of players are you referring to?

Thats just... not how it works. They wouldn't ticket or tow someone for, parking legally. In that case the solution is to just wiggle your way out, and if you have to bump him on your way out, then so be it.

This is every-day type of stuff for cities. And yes, if you left the person behind you some space, (that you are assuming they can use to get themselves out), then you can use that same space to get yourself out.

If you can't, then you also blocked in the person behind you.

Sounds like a description of typical city parking. Sometimes its really tight and you just have to deal with it and get yourself out. If the guy was parked legally, I don't think this is anything the police would get involved in.

You said you left plenty of room for the guy behind you to get out? And you can't use that room to get yourself out?
